Topic: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Hey there guys first of all I'm new to this site I had a nice welcome by a few members already and like to say thanks for helping me out.

Now my problem I'm having is with dragonframe and my DSLR.

I am quite new to DSLR and just recently bought this one. Its a Nikon 5100D I have read alot on this camera and seen it take photos with amazing crystal clear photos however when I take pictures its all blurry and pixelated. I know I'm not doing something right and I most likely have the wrong settings that's were I need your help. But that's not all when I use dragonframe this is the weird thing when I go testing shot the photo is actually clear and looks great! But when I go to liveview its dark and pixelated!? Why is this?

I use to use a canon 1000d and I never experienced this problem if anyone can help me I'd be more than appreciative as I have been trying to work on a scripted film I've been working on, and can't due to this issue. Would appreciate any help on this situation.

EDIT: The picture has gotten brighter but it still very very grainy and note this is only on dragonframe live view! on the tests shots on dragonframe there coming out great, but even unplugged from the pc the live view of the things I am taking photos are still grainy and quite dark.

Sincere regards,
Divine.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

I assume you've tried Dragonframe support? http://www.dragonframe.com/cameras/nikon_d5100.html I don't know if this answers your questions, but, if not, you could start a ticket with the support department.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Hi there Jahnocli

I have submitted a ticket but they are saying that it is a problem with my camera but my camera was checked and is in working order but not only is this problem in dragonframe its also for normal use its blurry and not sharp like it should be I don't know what settings I should have it on either.

Sincere regards,
Divine.

So the camera is blurry all the time? Not just with Dragonframe?

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

This is a dumb question but what aperture are you shooting at? Also, are you on auto focus? Did you get your dslr new or used? mini/smile

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Hey there Coolcubestudio,

Sorry for my late response I've had a very busy day all day today.

It's not a dumb question at all haha my aperture settings is normally anywhere between 6-11 but my main problem is it still doesn't actually focus even when its lower and when its higher it seems to get worse I use to have a canon 1100D and it was great I never had these issues so if you know anything I'd love to hear it to be honest not even the ISO is helping for lightness of the camera even when I decrease it.

When I increase it the set goes dark and its not because I have the camera to close to the minifigs either cause I also pulled it right away and attempted it it was still blurry but I still have to argue that its the user and not the camera as I am also not familiar at all with this camera and I also bought this camera used. Unfortunately I did not have the money to buy it new.

But thats another thing I want to mention of course when I bought it off a private dealer I tested it out the photos were actually great there was no issues with the photos and I was happy from that moment however now I'm really starting to regret it as I don't know what I am doing wrong.

And the most intriguing but confusing part of all this is on dragonframe on the test panel the pictures were coming out excellent quality however on live view and taking photos normal they were blurry or too dark or just plain out of focus and yes I have attempted it in auto focus it still does not give me any kind of improvement I even have Image Stabilization its not like my hand shakes anyway its a still image and the fact my camera is always mounted on a tripod really is starting to worry me what could be the issue and what can I attempt to fix this?

I would really appreciate any kind of input, experience or knowledge on this matter and possibly what could be the issues I am currently having.

(The camera is a Nikon 5100D)

Sincere regards,
Divine.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Could you post some images of the problem along with the exact settings used? Both with and without Dragonframe would be good. I'm having trouble envisioning the problem.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Hey there Backyardlegos I really appreciate you wanting to help out and everyone else for that matter, but alas today I decided to take it to be checked and the technician said the camera was at some kind of fault mini/sad and because I bought it privately there was no guarantee. Which unfortunately really was upsetting as it seemed fine when I first tried it but after deeper evaluation the results were not good. So from now I'll just be using my C920 but thanks a lot guys for trying to help out I do appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Divine.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Are you sure you can't get any kind if refund? A lot of times camera companies was have a one year warranty. Here's a page I found from Nikon about warranty: https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answer … gistration

If this doesn't work, try emailing Nikon.Hope this can be any help. mini/smile

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Hey Coolcubestudio,

I appreciate your concern and taking your time to help me out. Unfortunately the warranty had finished (The person had the camera over a year) and they said since I didn't have the original receipt there was not much they could do, they did tell me to take it too Nikon but they said fixing it would cost you a whole heap just wouldn't be worth my trouble if  so he didn't really advise it, as especially if there is a defect with the camera in which case I'd have to buy a new one anyhow. It's a real shame really. Just plain unlucky man.
But I appreciate you trying to help out.

Sincere Regards,
Divine.

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

I'm sorry to hear that. But maybe you could still return it though because I just found out that Nikon have a two year warranty. You really might want to try contacting them (no harm in asking). But if you really can't get a refund I hope you can manage to find a good camera (I recommend a Canon T3i). mini/smile

Regards,
Coolcube Studio

Re: Serious problem with Dragonframe Help appreciated

Yea I'll be sure to re-check it but my understanding was when the original purchaser purchased it he was given a chance to extend his 1 year warranty into two but only stayed with the one year, but I'll ask again to be sure! Thanks I really hope to find a good camera myself, right now I'm just using my C920 it's being good to me so far.

I know the Canon T3i it is a gorgeous camera and the thought of me choosing the Nikon 5100D over that was my own mistake it was actually my choice out of the two but people were saying how good the Nikon was when really I've always been a canon person myself. But thanks again mate appreciate your assistance and concern!

Sincere regards,
Divine.
