Re: Set Building

I do exaggerate. A lot.

My gripe with WMM comes mainly from the fact that for years, I had copies of Series MoviePlus X3/X5 and Sony Vegas, but my computers were all second-hand and not capable of running the software. What did that leave me with? A program that only lets you have two layers of video and one layer of audio. In order to get more audio you had to export the movie and import it back in, reducing the quality, and although I found some HD plugins and additional transition effects (none of which I ever found a use for) it never ceased to frustrate me. Meanwhile, the better pieces of software were sitting on my desk, staring at me, daring me to try to install them, knowing full well that any attempt I might make would be futile.

Re: Set Building

Actually, the "Google" being the most searched item on Bing isn't actually a fact, but an "Onion-esque" joke originating from The Beaverton.  According to the "report", here are the "next 5 top Bing searches": "goggle," "googlle," "suicide," "googler," and "hot sauce."

If it was true, it is no longer funny but sad because so many Google users need Bing just to find it.

Anyway, if you want more information on set building, and more from a Lego standpoint, check out Nathan Welles' videos, earlier on this thread.  They are excellent both in information and production values.  But I hope the info that I provided can help by looking at it from another angle.

Firstly, Bing would never put it in a report themselves, as that would be a ridiculous thing to do. Second, it's not sad at all; Internet Explorer's natural web address bar also acts as a Bing search engine, so people type Google in that to get to Google.

Re: Set Building

Actually, according to the Beaverton's article, the announcement DID come from Bing!

Re: Set Building

No, I mean that Bing would never admit that their most searched item was Google. That's like if Chicken started telling everyone "Go eat Bacon, it's a much tastier meat". I'm pretty sure it was a leak or another internet survey that gave the true results.

Well maybe chicken doesn't want to be eaten?
Seriously though guys, try to stay on topic.

Chicken needs to pay his month's rent mini/lol

Okay, back on topic now.

Does anyone have any advice for creating cardboard sets? I have a set I really want to make for Avengers Tower episode 4, but I don't even remotely have enough bricks to make the walls. Is there anything I should avoid doing when making cardboard backups, or anything specifically I should do, technique-wise?

Re: Set Building

All I know about making cardboard sets comes from making my own action figures by drawing characters, pasting them to cereal boxes, then cutting them out.  But if you get an empty HexBug box, you can take the liner or cut out the bottom/top and have a great 1" hex tile floor for an interior!  I also used the back of a Mixel box to make a nice background for a photo I took using minifigures.  Maybe you can print brick or shingle patterns and rubber cement them to boxes to make buildings.
