Topic: Good camcorders with Live View
I know that there is probably a post about this somewhere, but I need answers. I'm looking for a camcorder that is 1.) Compatible with Firewire and 2.) Has superior image quality. Thanks for your help!

Are you running Windows are Mac?
I feel that there are a several more options regarding capture software, if you are, indeed, looking to use capture software with your camera, for Windows apposed to Mac.
Both Canon and Panasonic have a good line of camcorders. Just to name a few, the Canon HV20, HV30, and HV40. Also, the Panasonic PVGS320. In view point of the canon HV30 and HV40, HD is an option, however, you will need to have an HMDI capture card and port. Though, standard definition is definitely not a major draw back, especially when using firewire.
If you are running Windows, programs that I am certain provide a live view are Monkeyjam, and Stop Motion Pro; both of which are recommendable.

And if you are running Mac, iStopmotion is a good option for firewire camcorders. In the past year, the Boinx gang has reduced the price of iStopmotion immensely.

Hope that helps.

That does help. I'm leaning towards the HV30, actually. I already have MonkeyJam, but it should work better now that I have a live feed from my camcorder to my PC. Thanks for your help! ![]()
