Topic: What Type of Lighting is Best?

I animate on a shelf in my closet, and I use two plug-in lamps that clip onto the shelf above my set for my lighting. My problem is, periodically I will have a power fluctuation while I am animating, and so the brightness of my lights fluctuates with the rest of the power in the house. It is kind of annoying, though I can deal with it if I have to. I would like to see what some other options are, because this is still a problem I would like to resolve if possible. Does anyone have some ideas for better ways to light my movie set?

What type of light bulbs are you using? Generally, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs take several minutes to reach their maximum potential.

If you're still having trouble, you could try using halogen lights or LED lights

If your house's power supply is unreliable, you can only really switch to battery-powered light sources. This could mean flashlights, or a big separate battery that powers separate lamps.

I use Reveal 40 bulbs. I looked at the box, and I cannot find anything that indicates if they are incandescent or fluorescent.

Oh, that's a bummer. Last time I used battery powered lights, I had the issue of my video clips getting more and more dim as the power depleted. mini/sad

That last method you mentioned sounds like something I might be able to work with; I am just having a hard time visualizing it. Do you know of any key words I could look for to find demonstrations of that, or do you know of any videos that show that kind of set up?
