Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread
Would love to see that on film!
Here's a simple set I put together for a little project I'm working on. All the walls come away individually quite easily.

I don't have any ideas yet, but I'm sure something will come to me. It'd be a shame not to, but first I need to animate Abraham Lincoln VS RoboBad Cop (haven't done a real fight scene in ages). What I may do is try and build a 3D environment for it in AE or HitFilm first, and then see if I can integrate them effectively enough to do a film.
@Sean I like it, but are you going to decorate the alcoves? It seems a wee bit bare at the moment, but the actual walls are nice and solid.
I can't help but notice the Round Table...is this project anything to do with King Arthur?
No Kings involved. In each alcove will be a candlestick made from an upside down foil (shown below), I just need to work out the specifics of how I want to build its stand.

Just a landing platform set of mine, that I built not too long ago. I still thing that I should add some trans red somewhere though.

How do I fix it?
How do I fix it?
The link you put inside IMG tags was the link to the page, not the photo. Here's where you find the direct image link:

Your set looks pretty nice, certainly above average. Especially if you make those trans red bricks light up and blink in post production it'll look super cool.
[EDIT]
Sorry Slurping, I just realised I'm showing the wrong link in that image. You want to copy the text inside the field when you click on the "pin" icon.

Thank you Sean! I've had trouble posting images on to BiM! An I had plans to do a blinking glow effect, and make the blink quite slow.
Here is the first set I will use for my LEGO Movie trailer.
and a test frame
(I love the lighting
)
That looks really good, and a lot like the scene from the movie. Although if you could pull the camera out just a little bit more it would be perfect. Not sure if you can do this, though, with the size of the baseplate.
Looks great, there's just enough light to make out Bad Cop's face and the running guy, but it's also got that great low-light feel. Although you have to strain to see the black back half of the car.
The best part is that I have a feeling that the chair is about to go flying.
Or should go flying at least.
What is the purpose behind the gaps in the wall?
To save bricks I'm sure, and decoration, but I'm not sure how good it'll look in other frames. Have you tried shining a light way back there and having the light come through the gaps? That might be cool.
@Pritchard The gaps are because in the scene there are buildings in the background.
@Mighty Wanderer Yeah, I would like it farther back but it wouldn't work because of the wall length (actually there isn't a wall in the completely back part of the background already)
A superb low light shot there, END.
That frame is beautiful, END films.
I'd love to send in an audition for Bad Cop if you require one still.
Are those just clusters of white LED lights in a LEGO windscreen to do the lighting effects? I can't quite make it out in the first picture...

Jampot has already sent a good audition but I am willing to look at another.
The colored light is white led lights from lego power functions sticky tacked into cockpit pieces.
Nice, END. I like how you made the searchlight out of paper (I'm guessing).

Yep, I wrapped paper around the end of a flashlight which is taped to a small tripod. (Originally there wasn't any paper but the light made it so you couldn't see the colored light)

I'm curious END, what's your camera and lens setup for that shot?

End, I have yet to see the Lego Movie, but that looks awesome! ![]()
