Topic: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

Sorry if there's a topic like this somewhere already or if this is unnecessary, if so, please do the appropriate thing and delete/close it and sorry, if that is the case.  If not...

Here I've compiled a few pictures of the sets revealed at the Toy Fair (whichever/wherever one it is) for 2014!
They're looking quite impressive, though you can really see the emphasis placed on the minifigures.

Anyway, all the images and set information is from www.fbtb.net and you can see more on both there.
I'm including stuff about Super Heroes, Star Wars, and The LEGO Movie.  If you want to see the ones from TMNT you'll have to go to fbtb to check those out.
Let's take a look!

I absolutely love the X-Men minifigures, this is a must have for me.  They're beautiful and perfectly accurate so far as I can tell.  The Sentinel is just so-so but Magneto is perfect, Cyclops is spot-on, Storm is brilliant, and Wolverine oh goodness, Wolverine!  The goggles are a wonderful idea so that the eyes are right when he has the cowl on, rather than the stupid Batman headband atrocity.

They are so overdoing this whole add-cheekbones-to-every-licensed-character thing.  It's just looking stupid now.  Try and look at Luke in the corner of the picture with Han Solo...I think his brains have been addled by something, what's up with these facial expressions also?  I love how this set looks but they're going overboard with the minifigure details.

That face for Vader is SO bad.  Look at it, that's not Vader, that's a demented zombie.  That hologram is pretty cool though, and the new hats for the Imperials are nice.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

Lego is really going all out this year. Those Lego Movie sets are all beautiful, and that's a pretty strong summer line-up for Star Wars. Glad to see Original Trilogy / EU stuff rather than Clone Wars.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

Thanks for sharing! I was on the search for these pictures a few days ago.

I agree, the cheekbone and sunken eye design on every single minifigure is starting to look really stupid. Luke looks like Peter Pettigrew. I really think Lego is trying to hard to be realistic. They should stop and go back to making fun, toy versions of the licensed characters. Those new hats for the Imperial officers look ridiculous in my opinion. I prefer the generic Kepi hats they used to use.

Other than that, I like some of the sets, but others seem kind of unnecessary, like the new Imperial Star Destroyer and the new AT-AT.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

All the Star Wars stuff is things Im not interested in at all. The only one I want is he Cantina, but even that is overpriced. If I could get some of the minifgures, and not the sets, that would be sweet.

The X-men set is one I really want and hope I can get later this year. It looks great, especially Magneto and Storm, and the jet.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

The Star War and x-men minifig look really good, but I'm not getting any of them. The only two set, I would get is the Benny’s Spaceship and Super Secret Police Dropship.

I'm also Bappy on Discord for those wondering.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

I have to say, I think LEGO is starting to step their game back up again; it's been awhile since there have been so many upcoming and current sets that I'm even vaguely interested in, it's nice to see some some good stuff coming in the near future; now if only I had loads of extra money... mini/tongue

I wonder if the crack in Benny's helmet is authentic... mini/wink

I need each and every one of The LEGO Movie sets.

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

I want all the Emmet expressions and Benny. (I just need to figure out to save enough money)

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

Saw these images two days ago, and I am very pleased with this wave! My only nitpick is, although the Star Wars sets are amazing, Is that some of the figures are updated, especially the Stormtroopers as I've started to army build the currant ones. Ah well, I'll stop now and hope for a decent Stormtrooper related battlepack in 2015. Over than that, all the sets are great, and I will defiantly be saving up for that new B-Wing! mini/bigsmile

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

And I will be buying all of the LEGO Movie sets...Just to get Princess Unikitty

Nothing else looks appealing, just recycled sets.

Star Wars is only around because little kids like it and they never had any of the old sets.

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

I just realized I haven't actually given too many of my thoughts on what I'll buy.

The X-Men set is an absolutely positively without a doubt yes, I'm buying it, nay, I NEED it.

The Star Wars sets are all remakes of sets that I didn't fall in love with enough to buy the first time around, I probably don't need any now.  I like a lot of the minifigs, and will very likely try to buy some of them separately at a decent price.  The Cantina is the only one I really like but it's so expensive, I doubt I'd spend that on it.  It is nice to see the focus on the OT sets though, it seems like they're kind of alternating OT and PT within each new 'wave'.

The LEGO Movie sets...oh, they're beautiful.  They're all so big though...
I bet I will get the Police Dropship, I just love that kind of ship and JOHNNY THUNDER!
Benny's Spaceship looks brilliant but I don't think I'll actually get it, the design is great though!
Metal Beard's Sea Cow...oh goodness. It's got the entire main cast, really, and the ship is splendiferous.  In a comical and not realistic way, but that's what makes it splendiferous.  Holy cow (see what I did there) it's so stinkin' much though.  For that I could get a modular building and the X-Men set and still have a good $50 left over.  It may go on my Christmas list though...

Re: New Sets Revealed at Toy Fair 2/17/14 [PICTURE HEAVY]

I do remember looking at Brickshow's movie of the Toyfair viewing the Dropship.
Response: JOHNNY MOTHER @(&*#ING THUNDER! THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER! BRING ON IN THE CHARLES LIGHTNING! ISDPHFOUISHFUOAWH38402768947Y8ES0HFOUSHpgherwfuohsuoagft73490 ect, ect, ect, ect.

To be honest, the Cantina doesn't look too bad, and it's not that overprice from my point of view. ($1 = 10 pieces, $10 = 100 pieces, $100 = 1000, that's my LEGO logic). 600 Pieces for $70 AND quite a few minifigs is resonable of a price. Especially for StarWars.

New Spring Loaded? WOAH, Lego... um.. well it's better than flickfire, that's all I can say (because you can actually FIRE the projectiles from what it looks like).

I'm not too interested in anything X-men or Marval related. But I can definetly use the White hair on her (I don't know her name. FORGIVE ME).

I really LOVE the AT-AT and the Star Destroyer (LEGO HOLOGRAM OF EMPORER! YES!)

Advent Calendar? LOL. Kinda good ideas, actually.

Emmet's Mech: YES! I ALWAYS wanted a set of that ever since I watched the movie.

Benny's Spaceship: Wyldstyle looks adorable in the space hoodie. mini/cat
Benny: EPIC WIN.
I can see so many classic space references.

Metalbeard's Sea Cow..............

........uh......uh........UUHHH...... I THINK I'M GONNA BLOW! TAKE COVER! AAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHHAAAAA-

Anyways, IT LOOKS @*()#&ING EPIC! I NEED IT! Especially the Double-decker couch.

Also: I NEED a Unikitty with her Anime-like eyes! THE BIG ROUND GLOWY SPARKLY ONES. And LEGO still hasn't made a Unikitty like it.

What would I get? Well I have a spare $25, so I'll be hoping for a magical $45 to come around and get me the DROPSHIP. OSHOSHSOSHSOSHS JOHNNY THUNDER! And 4 SWAT Robots look good too.

Also: Johnny Thunder doesn't deserve to have those FILTHY MODERN HANDCUFFS ON HIM. That's not welcomming to a 9 year old Minifigure like JOHNNY THUNDER....ect ect.

SO mint  The X Men giant build figure is awesome, and I love the Cantina set.  Look! Lego Bith figures!  Yet another snowspeeder?  I made the mistake of buying the first one back in 1999, and so now I own a gray one instead of one that's white.

Hm. I don't really like many of the sets for this year, though Arctic and The LEGO Movie definitely stand out for something I'd be interested in purchasing. Also Benny's helmet - love it, besides the fake scratches, most of the Emmet and Benny heads, and man, I really want that Sea Cow. Star Wars is kind of dull this time around, excluding the Cantina (which looks awesome).

Dude, as far as I can remember, LEGO Star Wars has always been dull. Especially now that they're finally running out of ideas. They've resorted to making up characters and locations, just so they can have a fresh excuse to put out another one of their bland sets, merely for another quick buck.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

That, Mickey, will change! Of course, the constant rehashes and releases of sets does get bland and boring, but remember this; Star Wars is what kept The Lego Company going. Without it, profits will drop, and so will the number of new sets from various other themes, as a good fraction of Lego's profit comes from the Star Wars franchise.
