Have the BiM awards been canceled. There haven't been any since 2011. Just wondering.

It would be fun to re-boot them .
There are BiM awards?
I've been wondering this myself, All the people who have run them in the past have disappeared, at least publicly, from the site, so I'm not sure how likely a return would be.
I'd love to see a return of the Bricks in Motion Awards. I wasn't here the last time it was run but I crept around the site every so often back then and remember a lot of hype about it, it seemed like a fun and useful thing to do.
Finding someone to run the awards again is the problem. I'm all for its return, it just needs a host...
I would love to host it.
I remember that the BiMAs were quite the big deal back in the day. I wish they were still a thing nowadays.
I would love to host it.
I dunno, the last time that happened...well, it'd be best not to tell you.
The problem with this kid was that all he wanted was authority and attention. He wanted to run things, but we felt like he wasn't mature enough to "run things". And when he ignored our advice, things went wrong. Very wrong.
Same with this situation. I think we should let someone who's more mature, and has more authority, handle an affair such as an "award show", instead of just another forum member, no offense. I mean, with some of the stuff you've posted in the past, I'm not sure if you're mature enough to handle this responsibility. And I'm not saying I am. I've only been on these forums for three years, whereas notable others have been members of the site for much, much longer.
That said, if your stubborn side still believes that you have what it takes to host the BiMAs, you might wanna take another glance at the link I posted above.
EDIT: Sorry if my post "doesn't help". I really just wanted to get the point across.

I agree whole-heartedly with everything Mickey said. That's the biggest issue I see here.
It came down to a few issues; the first was that there weren't enough really good films some years to generate a lot of enthusiasm for an annual awards event. The other issue we've run into is that we get a good organizer one year, but it's a ton of work, so that person isn't terribly interested another year. Additionally it's hard to find qualified judges who are willing to watch all the eligible films.
My feeling about this has been that it's only worth doing if we can do it well; I'm not sure we can, right now. If somebody were to step up and convince me they're going to do a great job with getting it going, I'm listening, but I'm not afraid to turn people down if I don't feel they're sufficiently experienced/qualified/trustworthy; alternately, if somebody wanted to run an unofficial awards show for LEGO movies on the BiM forums, they don't need my approval to do so.
The thing about annual awards is that you need an organization with a goal of recognizing achievements in the field the award is meant for. The Nobel has their committee, the Oscars have AMPAS, the People's Choice has...Survey Monkey.
A brickfilm achievement committee needs to have multiple members dedicated to actively watching and highlighting noteworthy brickfilms year round. One can sift through the muck of amateur brickfilms to find worthwhile ones over the past 12 months or one can go stagnate like the Academy Awards and just look at December's line up. *Sees it's full of THAC entries* Frak, nevermind.
People's Choice takes less work, in my opinion. Food for thought.
I'd be happy to help but with the 2015 contest and the BFCU Monthly Challenge, on top of my own animations and college work, I wouldn't be prepared to host.
I vote People's Choice. Make a different survey for each category, too IMO. If someone then wants to host the final celebratory post/video, then they can host the BiM People's Choice Awards (I guess).
I've never done this but this looks awesome so I think it should start again
After rereading my post I have some regrets about posting it. To host something of the magnitude, someone would have to have a very good reputation on this site. I have no reputation on this site that I know of. And who would trust someone to judge quality in other's brickfilms when they don't have quality in their own. My brickfilms don't have quality yet. I'm working on becoming higher quality, but for now it would be best if I just stick to reviewing brickfilms in the forums. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Someone go get Zachary Volt.
You are having too much fun with that picture
Whoa, I totally spelled "grandeur" wrong. Whoops
