Topic: A new idea for rating films.

I'm not sure what forum this topic should go in, but I'll let the mods deal with that.
My idea is this:
I have watched several films on this site which I didn't dislike, but I really didn't like either. Looking at the 5 stars that I am able to rate, I found the first two to be "Hated it" and "disliked it". and the last three to be "Liked it", Really liked it" and "Loved it". I think there should really be a neutral star like "It was okay" or "Nothing out of the ordinary". I think we could replace the middle star with one of those, and then change the 4th star to "Liked it". Maybe this idea is just completely stupid. If so, just close this thread mods. But if you like the idea, say something.

Re: A new idea for rating films.

The thing is the current system only allows you to rate in whole-star increments. So if you selected three stars, that's 3/5, or a rating of 60%. So to select three stars, as maths dictates, is literally an "above neutral" rating if we assume neutral to be 50%. Personally I don't think it's a bad idea, but at the same time it's a pretty benign one. I don't think it's really an issue.

I give this idea 3/5 stars.

I've thought the same thing before.  It would be great if there was a neutral rating.
