Topic: 24fps walk & run cycles

Here are my tests of walk and run cycles animated at 24 frames per second. The first two footsteps of each cycle have been slowed down so you can see more clearly mini/smile

There's a slight bit of set movement due to the plate not being taped down enough at the corners.
I'm pleased with how smooth it looks and will probably carry on animating at 24fps now instead of 15fps.

Re: 24fps walk & run cycles

The walks were good but the run was too fast. Keep at it mini/smile

Re: 24fps walk & run cycles

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I felt the same way about the run cycle. Where would you suggest inserting another frame/s? Maybe one inbetween frames 1 + 2 with his leg higher in the air with the other still fully in contact with the ground, arms more outstretched?

Anyway, thanks! I'll give it another go!

Re: 24fps walk & run cycles

I don't really have suggestions about where to add frames (my goals recently have been squeezing the most smoothness out of 15fps as possible) Good luck with your next attempt mini/smile

Re: 24fps walk & run cycles

I think this would go in the WIPs and Tests thread. But, it looks great to me!

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: 24fps walk & run cycles

Personally, I felt that both the walk and run cycles had a slight jutter when the minifig is in between steps. This could be fixed by continuous movement of the legs when walking (opposed to having an extra frame where there's just an arm moving). For running, you should try to keep the figure moving every frame, instead of stopping on touch-down/take-off. For reference, watch Fancypants' tutorial. Then reproduce it at 24fps. Still, pretty good job. mini/smile

Thanks so much legoguy501, that's incredibly helpful! I'll definitely try to do this when I animate next mini/smile
I'll also post any tests I do in the WIPs and Tests thread from now on, that was an error on my part -_-
