Okey dokey (lokey)!
I just have to get it out of my backpack and type it up. I'll do that sometime today.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to post it yesterday. I'll do it today tomorrow eventually.

I hate to double post, but two days ago was my 1 year anniversary as a member here on BiM! Yay!

Glad to have you here on the forum! I missed both of my anniversaries, so go me, I guess.

Happy birthday/anniversary/thing
Also the government shut down in the US... uh..huh.. OK

The sad part was that yesterday was the 123rd birthday of Yellowstone National Park, and it was closed because of the shutdown.
Yesterday was weirdly eventful, wasn't it? I mean, Terraria got a massivley huge update, Half Life 3 may have been confirmed, and the Government shut down.

Half Life 3 may have been confirmed,
That was confirmed to be fake. ; - ;

I believe the leaked HL3 listing on the project management software Valve uses is still thought to be real, though. Of course that would mean the announcement could be years away instead of the months everyone was hoping for, but it does give some hope.
While it would be cool to see it finally come to fruition, I'm not really looking forward to it much. I played the first Half-Life, and while it was fun, I wouldn't really say I'm a mega fan. I guess it's just not my thing.
Now, a new Metroid, THAT is what I'd get excited for.

For what it's worth, I greatly prefer Half-Life 2 to the first game. I've heard people say neither has aged well, but as someone who hasn't had the hardware to keep up with most recent games, HL2 and Ep. 1 and 2 are still visually palatable- HL1, not so much. Both have fairly flimsy plot-lines, but the later games were more interesting in that regard as well, I think.
I dunno, they aren't my favorite games either, but I am excited to see what Valve comes up with.
I still think Half Life 1 holds up against whats going in gaming right now, even if it doesn't hold up against later shooters from the 90's/early-to-mid 2000's. At least there are no cover-based mechanics and the levels, despite their linearity, are open for you to use various different combat strategies. Its not like now where a button pops up asking you to press 'X' to glue yourself to a wall for the rest of the battle (which is the most boring thing in the world). And it actually has colour and fun in it. The plots kinda like a 50's/60's B-Movie, and thus it has a certain quirkiness to it - a quirkiness which we're probably not going to see in Triple A gaming for some time, at least not until Sony and Microsoft realise they're supposed to be making a machine that plays games rather than all-in-one social media devices.
I kinda feel sorry for Valve, but I also think they bought the whole Half Life 3 fiasco on themselves. They were going to do Half Life 2 Episode 3 but things got delayed (most likely a combination of writers block and other projects) and now they've left it so late that the Source Engine has become outdated (although Portal 2 looked great - but that was probably because there were no actual humans in that game) so if they want to finally get round to this then they'll probably have to completely re-do the Source engine and after all this time they can't just burp out Episode 3 so now they have to create an entire standalone game, meaning that whatever plans they had before they will now have to scrap. Plus they know that they've left the game so late that no matter what they put out, fans will probably not be satisfied because their expectations are too high now.
Again, I feel sorry for them being in this position - but it was kinda their fault for not getting round to it. Sort of like the UK economy...

The problem with even releasing HL3 is that it cannot possibly live up to any of the hype it's gathered over the years, so it's bound to be a slight disappointment.

Yesssssss Metroid is one of my favourite series.
A Wii U Metroid would make my brain melt.

At least there are no cover-based mechanics
Haha, I actually spent most of the areas with soldiers hiding behind things. On the topic of the Source Engine, it was confirmed a while back that they've been working on a new one, so I think it's likely that they'll be building all of their future games with that.

I think it would be real cool if they went and did another Metroid Prime sort of game (It doesn't have to be in the Prime series, it would just have similar mechanics). That kind of game would really show off just what the U is capable of.
Also, do you have a Wii U? ![]()

Yeah I do. I'm probably most looking forward to Bayonetta 2 and X right now seeing as Xenoblade is one of my favourite games.
Also at E3 the trailer they showed for Mario 3D World was really mediocre, it just looked like a really bland port of 3D Land with multiplayer, but after that trailer the other day I'm actually really looking forward to it.

I kinda like Half-Life 2. I can't really compare it to other first person shooters because it's the only single player FPS I've ever played.
I still haven't finished Episode 2, but I'm taking it really slowly. Then maybe I won't have to be on the HL3 hype train for as long.
But Max has a really good point. It's going to be hard to live up to the hype.

I find it really surprising how quick my outlook on that game changed. When the game's director said at E3 that 3D World would be a culmination of a lot of the things the team has learned over the years, I was a bit skeptical. But seeing the most recent trailer made me a believer!
Also, since we're on the subject of video games, what has everyone been playing recently? I've been rocking VVVVVV and Cave Story on the 3DS, and both have taken over my bus ride to school.

Out of boredom during the summer holidays, I finally decided to install Team Fortress 2 (because at last I have a computer that can actually run the bloody thing). Despite still kind of sucking at it, I have concluded that it ranks alongside sex, handbrake turns, and sucessfully executing a moonwalk on the dancefloor as one of the most fun things in the world - with scoring a headshot/backstab/revenge kill being more satisfying than getting top marks in an essay. What I also like about the game is that you can drop in and out of it, so if I want a break from work I can play a quick match to alleviate any tension built up.
Speaking of - is there some sort of Brickfilmers Steam Group? Because there should be....(my Steam username is 'Alkami' by the way. Please add me, I'm lonely)

I just tried to and this happened:

Are you sure that's your name? Cause that's the only Alkami in the search results.
