Topic: Fishman Episode 1: Aliens in town

Forget about aquaman, batman and superman.

Redfishstopmotion presents the Fishman. The jolly superhero fishman has been blessed with the power to communicate with  fishes of all sorts. He travels on a shark thru universe just because he can. Fishman also got the strength of a whale even tho it's not a fish...Don't ask me how that happened...

Most of the time he's busy, fighting crime, get the girls and also defeat the evil villains in the city.


This is a new project im working on. It's probably going to be episodes were you get to follow fishman on he's different adventures. I'll be posting some pictures of my work and sets and so on.

The first scene is already finished and the set for the second scene is done and ready to be shot.

Update:

A few days ago I shot the intro scene.

I'm using a program called dragonframe stopmotion which i've been using for the last year.
The camera i use is a Canon eos 550d and macro lens EF-S60mm f/2.8 USM. Unfortunately there can occure a bit of light flickering if you're not carefull with the light setup. So thats something I always keep in mind when im animating a scene.

Anyway here is the picture:

This scene was animated infront of a green screen and then masked, keylighted and color corrected in After effects.

I NOTICED THAT THE PICTURE WAS A LITTLE BIT DARK WHEN I UPLOADED IT HERE, NOTICE THAT IN THE END RESULT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SEE THE STARS A LITTLE BIT BETTER.

I like that split frame, it's a great way of showing off the changes.

This looks interesting, and I sorta like the design choice. It's a more practical civilian type outfit as opposed to a costume composed of fragile tights. Certainly looking forward to more on this film.

New update!

This is a new scene I recently shot. It's a scene where  a guy is getting mugged and Fishman comes to the rescue. I'm not going to spoil what happens after that. You're going to have to watch it in the near future.

For some reason the pictures I upload often gets slightly darker then they actually are, i upload them to tinypic and then copy the code...so...yeah


I shot the scene with 15 fps (frames per second) and also recorded the sound. He's line is basically
"Your getting mugged, give me all your money."

Because of the line the thief is saying I had to spend a small amount of time animating the mouth. Nothing to fancy but the end result looked good.

The photo on the left is the final one, it's a little bit lighter in the final result but for some odd reason, as already told, my pictures always gets a bit darker when i upload them...

New update!

It's been a while since my last update, well here it is!
I've created two new sets.

Fishmans apartment. (atleast the bit I need for the scene.) Anyways when I write this I've already shot this scene where he is sleeping on his  couch.

The boss's office. Of course fishman working for a big organization which work is to keep the world safe. Anyways, this scene is also finished. I've also recorded all the voices for this scenes.

Wow! Almost 500 viewers on this thread. That's very inspiring and it also makes me very motivated to work even harder.

I've been animating a few exciting and funny scenes since the last update.

Frame #1,
It's a bit too far up, giving too much headroom and not enough desk at the bottom. The lighting is a bit dark, and it almost looks like it's been stretched or distorted or something. Also, it would work better if the guy was farther away from the TV.

Frame #2,
Like the mini-scale work, especially the saucer, but the blue-screen could use a little more work.

Frame #3,
Any reason for the black and white? Also don't care for the background or the fuzzyness on most of the image.
And there's way too much headroom.

1 and 2 could use a little work, but 2 is pretty cool even as is. 3 I'm not so keen on.
Overall, this looks very interesting and cool so far. Keep it up!

i like the mix of lego pieces and effects adds a lego feel without being completely cheap

Thank you both for your comments.

This scenes might very well be adjusted or re-animated in the final movie. However, keep in mind that every picture I upload for some reason gets a little bit darker than it actually is.
