To be honest I think its cool you think big, but I think you're in the wrong area. Any game of any sort takes huge amounts of time, resources, etc. and people have been pointing that out to you. You're acting as if you've put forward an idea about a brickfilm and people are shouting you down. This isn't a matter of criticism, its just helping show you that this is incredibly unrealistic. If you weren't looking for people to discuss it with then it was pointless posting this at all, there's no active member here who is either willing/or mostly even able to help you make a 3D 1st Person game, as well as using LEGO as the medium.

Plus the biggest issue even if you did manage to get a developer is the trademark that LEGO has on the Minifigure and the Brick.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

How are you going to deal with copyright infringements? I wouldn't think that LEGO would accept that you are making money out of their products. If they accept however, it would probably not come free.

If you are planning to make the game free you would not be able to get it on Steam.

However, Zach.
The idea to make a new LEGO game is pretty neat, but you will need to figure out what the Game will be about. I don't think programmers are willing to help you if they don't know what to do.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

I will not be making money out of this. I'm baffled at the par where you are only critisizing me, yet there are three more people in on this. Why is every single idea I have a bad idea? That's my question. We know ehat the game will be about. Sorry about the grammar and spelling as I am typing this on my phone.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

We're not biased on the concept of your ideas being bad, they're just, well, that.

And then you go and say 'well we know what the game is about' but that doesn't help your case at all. You're wondering why we think this is a bad idea when you haven't even told us what the game is about.

Unless you genuinely know a lot about game design, have some really cool mechanic you want to introduce or actually know how to code, you shouldn't be heading this project.

I'm heading it, and that's that.

Are you going to give us the story? Ever? Even if it's isn't finished yet. Your not going to get people to help if you don't tell us specifically what it's about.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

And I also would like to point out that LEGO would probably never approve of this idea, because I wouldn't think they would want a first person shooter to be associated with their product.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Umm... I told you what it was about in the first post. I updated it. And have you not seen the LEGO Wolf 3D game? Ours won't be that violent at all. Seriously, pay attention to the main post. It will be frequently updated.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

You edited it after I posted that.

You can't act as if it was there all along.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

You still gave no notification that you edited it into the first post. You can't just condescend him saying 'Seriously, pay attention' when it's a pretty safe assumption that you hadn't given any information on the plot. I'd understand you doing that if it was there in the first place but it wasn't.

Also this kinda plot doesn't exactly seem to be tonally connected to Lego. I don't see why you can't just make this a game about a guy called Gordon or something.  With a companion called Alyx or something. I dunno, just a thought.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Zach, here's my thoughts on the subject.

So far, nobody on this thread has given full approval of your idea, and it looks like there won't be anybody, yet your still trying to withstand the criticism. You may as well not post any of your ideas here on BiM if all you do is reject what people are saying to you. Also, earlier you were questioning the fact that your were the only one being "targeted," and nobody else was. Here's why:

YOU POSTED THE THREAD

Please, oh please just listen to what people are saying to you, and stop bringing up reasons why they're wrong. This is the whole reason why this argument keeps going on and on and on.

Accept the fact that you have a problem, then fix it. If you don't, this thread will probably go on for ages.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Is it not apparent that you should cease attempting to reason with our ambitious friend here? He clearly refuses to listen to common and generally logical points, so why bother, let Zachary go about his way. The game idea will probably fizzle down to nothing, as with the majority of his other projects, once he realises the huge challenges in between him and his goal.

It's going to be done. I have been listening, but it's not stopping me. I am willing to take the risks and challenges in this project. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc … sp=sharing This is my team currently. They want to help. Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Why did you even make the thread then

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Because i thought people would like the idea, like when CyberCom posted his thread about Buiscut. I just wanted some coders and maybe textures and things. But instead of volunteering, you say it's a bad idea.
I'm prepared for this. I know some basic Python, and I have people working with me. It will get done. You probably want a release date, but I don't know how long this will take.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

I'd like to say I find the idea of making a video game cool. A group of friends of mine decided that they were going to make a video game, and created music, plot, and the first part of it before they stopped because of their high school work-loads. They had a fun time of it, even though the game didn't get made. So I wish you the best of luck making your game, if you stick with it.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

There's that word again. What exactly is "coding", Zac?
