Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)
There's a difference between letting someone dream, and letting them be delusional over something extremely unrealistic.
In what way is this unrealistic? It's just a free game.

Jstudios and Zac should kiss.
No, you don't understand, read over what I said again and hopefully you'll get the point. It's not about money, I was just saying that to clarify the point that it's an unreasonable demand. But now that you mention it,, most people would expect to be paid for work on a flash game, let alone a first person game, which would be far more complicated.
Dude freaking Leonardo Di Caprio wouldn't be able to figure out your dream.

This isn't a dream. Paradise is in on it and I don't see you making fun of him, do you? We are asking for help, not advice. We just need coders and more staff. We aren't hiring professional animators and buying out Electronic Arts. We're just making a nice indie game with a good story made out of LEGOs. We are only using free software, not $500 suites. If you don't want to support this, then don't! Simple as that. Don't post if you don't want to support it. And I'm not the troll, for those of you on Skype (yes, I have a skype account.) You are the trolls. I try to do something fun, and you say "You're trying to be important!" The problem with these forums is that there is too much negative interactions. What happened to respecting other's ideas and supporting them? That's my question.

If you can't accept criticism then that's your own problem, if you want to go your whole life with people sugar coating things, telling you that all your ideas are good with no criticism, you won't get anywhere.
On the topic of buying out EA and such. You don't seem to understand that Indie games still require ridiculous amounts of work, they're not something you get done in 2 months. Cave Story is a MetroidVania-style 2D platformer/shooter with a simple art style and it took 5 years. And the guy had extensive knowledge on programming and game design, something which you have yet to show us.

I don't know how long this will take me. Maybe it will be years, maybe not. It is not a freeroam game where we have to keep updating and updating. It has a strict story. Still, the thing is, who are you trolling? Me. Paradise really wants to make this, and are you trolling him? No. Why am I your main target. There are many different people to criticize. I can take criticism, but saying I want to go my whole life with people sugar coating things, that just hurts. So STOP IT.
I'm not trolling, trolling would be coming on the topic saying lol ur a weenie lol kthx bye
I'm legitimately criticising you, I'm trying to convince you why this is just an overall bad idea. Also maybe you should wonder why I'm speaking to you when you're the one who made the thread with such bold claims. The other reason is simply because you've made so many bold claims in the last month or so and everyone tells you to wait for a long time until you really know what you're doing before doing anything so ambitious, yet you never listen. To you, waiting for a long time means around 2 or so weeks.

I can take criticism
that just hurts. So STOP IT.
I don't understand how what Jstudios said would hurt.

What he's saying is true, so it seems you're not taking criticisms as well as you say.
This always happens. When I try to do something fun, somebody comes in and says its a bad idea. Pretty soon, I will say I'm making a brickfilm and people will hate the idea. If you can't accept my idea, then ok. I don't care.
If you can't accept my idea, then ok. I don't care.
How do you not...
Whhhaaaaattttttt

We criticize your ideas because they are bad ideas. If you came out with a good idea that we thought was doable and interesting, we'd support it.
You say all of this is on me, yet there are more people who like this idea than just me. If you can't respect my ideas, then I will just leave the forums. That's that. You don't like my ideas, say goodbye.

The reason why people are being critical of your idea is because you have an extensive history on this site of being over-ambitious and unsuccessful. I have only returned recently to this site and the reputation you have built yourself is laughable. I don't think you fully grasp how difficult and time-consuming making a videogame actually is. A good game demands full attention and a team of well taught and experienced programmers, led by an experienced leader with knowledge of programming and a clear vision of his future product. Your game would require an immense amount of money for research and licencing from The LEGO Company. You would need to establish trademarks and copyright your game, and you would also need to pay for the ESRB to rate it and you may need to charge money for it if you wanted a sliver of a chance of it making it on Steam, assuming you really meant that part.
If you want people on this site to take you seriously and to stop trolling or teasing you, you may as well pick up your camera, dig out your LEGO, set up Monkeyjam, and animate films. People get respect on this site for their ability to make or help make films, not by dreaming up audacious goals and plans, then ditching them when they come to their senses.
An extensive history. AKA a month.
I must have accidentally skipped over the bit about Steam, that just brings the whole ordeal to a whole new level of ridiculous.
It just gets worse...
Also that just makes it even more embarrassing doesn't it. You've only been here a month yet you've managed to already make a library of stupid ideas.

I've been here since BiM 2011, the reason i joined. thats a while. Look under my avatar for proof.
An extensive history. AKA a month.
In one month, you tried to start a site for a community you barely met which eventually morphed into a machinima channel, begin an awards ceremony for films on said community's site, and sort of start a contest, we can also add "Start a Videogame" to this list. You also post incessantly, and take member criticism with a pinch of salt. Perhaps you should stop and think before you act. People aren't using those signatures just because they're funny, you generally come across as crazy and unpredictable and people genuinely believe you're a troll.
I don't think you realize that many people currently trolling you were trying to help you at some point. Before you run off on a tangent and attack yet another member for thinking your ideas are off pitch, maybe you should read your posts and consider your options in your responses. I will look at you as a rational person this time, but this is your final warning.
I was saying that you managed to do all that in just a month. You keep darting around the issue to point out little nitpicks, it's like if in a presidential debate someone just said 'It doesn't matter that my tax plan is flawed, you spelled something wrong on your notes'.

Sorry, Zac. But, I gotta agree with these guys. RealBrick's first post, Post #34, does bring up some good points.
