Topic: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

Hello, fellow brickfilmers. Me and ParadiseBricks have decided to make a lego videogame, only in first-person. There are only two out there, one of which being old and outdated, the other being quite violent and bloody. It will be called Experiment 13, the reason for the 13 is because it is 2013 and is also, if you believe in luck and conspiracy, a number of bad luck and destiny, which are two words to describe what goes on in the game. We need your help to do this. It is going to become a community project if we are to make it.

We need programmers who have knowledge of the coding languages of Python or C++. We will use one of these two coding languages depending on how many can use them. We will be using the Panda3D game engine, an engine designed and used by Disney. We will try to make the game available on Steam.

We are currently writing the script. If you would like to pitch in, then tell us your abilities with programming, graphic design, etc. We hope you decide to pitch in, as we need all the help we can get.

It is about an experiment which goes wrong, resulting in a space-time continuum disaster which wakes you up a long time into the future, in the middle of an alien invasion.

Thank you for your time, and good bye.

Panda3D is free, and unity is web-based.

I don't really think that's possible.

I second saying "Good luck." except I'm saying it like Morgan Freeman does in The Dark Knight.

Yeah, it's possible. It'd just take a VERY long time. mini/smile

Thank you, Chris. At least, thank you if I remember that part right.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

I made a game once. Then I woke up and stopped being unrealistic.

good luck

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

I think employing programmers will cost you 1,000s more than you think. For example, Tobuscus decided to make a game, and he needed 250,000 dollars on kickstarter to make it.

Its a pretty big deal.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

OK look, just listen here for a second.

You just can't seem to grasp the concept that you keep going out of your league, you make unrealistic propositions and this one is the most ridiculous yet. If you're making an indie game with just a few people, especially at this age, there are slim chances you'll be able to make a successful 2D flash game, let alone a 3D first person.

Secondly, you're the one asking other people to code for you. That's borderline delusional, especially seeing as the only information you've given is that you're making a game about Lego, a statement which anyone can put forward. It's rare for someone directing a game to not do any of the programming on something that's obviously not going to be very story based or headed by a huge development team, especially with such a blanket statement, it's like saying 'Hey guys I want to make a platformer and stuff, I don't have any other ideas for it please fund 50000 dollars thanks'. You've given people no idea of how it'll be except that it's in first person and has Lego, giving people no reason to back you on this, as if they didn't have any due to your previous track record.

It's seriously gotten to the point where I'm just going to assume you're a troll, no one can make this many crucial mistakes in such a short time span with a whole community backing the idea that you should at least wait until you're matured and gained a decent reputation for embarking on anything remotely this ambitious.

To echo everyone else here, good luck.

Dreams are for bed, not serious forum propositions.

Re: Experiment 13 (LEGO Video Game)

If you don't understand, we won't need money for this. We have willing participants who will go unpaid and help make this a good game.

There's a difference between letting someone dream, and letting them be delusional over something extremely unrealistic.
