First, official as in Smeagol/BiM endorsed?
Second, shouldn't this be just 2012 films, since 2013 isn't over yet?
Third, last time we couldn't really submit, we only saw the short lists, why the change?
Fourth, why didn't you put that it's the awards in the title? That's normal and more professional.
Also, why end the thing on the last day of Contrast and not wait for any of those films?
Sorry man, but something smells a bit fishy here. Ok, like, really fishy.
Any member is happy to post his own idea of what the best films are, but you'll have to do a lot more to convince me that this is official. And if it is the real deal, how'd you get in charge of it? (As opposed to a mod/admin.)
I second everything Pritchard brings up.

I wanted it to be more like a real awards show, and more open to the members.

I wanted to make it more of a mystery, to make you click the thread to see it.

It came to my attention about that. I have pmed Smeagol and if he says no, I will change the name.

I have decided that I will start voting in late December, most likely after Christmas.

I'm okay with this so long as the prizes for winning are obscene amounts of cash and I win everything (y)
Wot.
Wot.
I'm not sure I... huh...

So you haven't actually gotten official permission at this point?

Getting permission.
Getting permission.
Then who gave you permission to call these awards "official"?
Again. Getting permission.
So, therefor, it's unofficial?
At the moment, yes.
At the moment, yes.
You may want to change the first line then...
Yes, it is official!
This seems pretty cool, A lot like Thefourmonkeys but still a good idea.

I'm honestly confused. This little diologue makes me feel like I'm in a Monty python skit.
I think he heard you the first time, guys.
Zac, I'm not Smeagol (obviously, or I'd outside enjoying quality time with my glorious beard), but I wouldn't get your hopes up about this being made official. I personally have no problem with you running an unofficial awards competition, but you have to understand that official BiM stuff is held to a very high standard. Anything less reflects poorly on the site and could affect how sponsors and donors view us in the future. While I won't say that I don't believe you are capable of meeting those standards, I (and the rest of the staff) don't know you that well. The only thing we have to go on is this thread, where you declared the awards official before asking permission and changed the voting date within an hour of making the original post. Stick around, do things in the community for a while and prove that you can handle the responsibility of something like this, and one day it's possible you could run something like this officially. Right now we just don't have enough of a history to put you in charge of an official site function.
wild guess, is it the unoffical BiM film awards?
Well you tried.
it wasn't a very successful or thought out attempt but you tried.
