That is a beautiful shot!

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

I've scrapped my original idea and started new one.  Here's my first set.
This is the bare outline of the set I need to make it look like a poor person's house... So give advice please!

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Well I was away all weekend, and one of my voice actors still hasn't sent me the lines I need, so I may just end up doing them myself. If anyone wants to have the role instead just PM me or something.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

I've got somewhat the same issue, I contacted the perfect guy about a role, and he hasn't messaged back for days.
I'm thinking about doing a casting-call, but hate to for one guy. Basically the role needs somebody willing to play both an older, and a younger, version of the character. It's twelve lines, split evenly between the two versions. And if somebody is interested, please PM me for more details.

That's an interesting set there Binding.
Is there any reason you have the staircase so far out? It may look better if it was set back a stud, since the steps would match up more with the angled wall. As you said, this is just a basic design, but if you added a broken-down table and a chair or two, as well as something on the staircase wall, that may be all you need to fill things out.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

I am currently dancing around my room to Mystery Skulls while animating a scene.

Today is a good day.

I may post some frames later.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

The set looks interesting behind the figure.  The frame, well, I'm never a fan of sideways shots with the shoulder pointing at the camera.  But it's your film, and I have no idea what it's about.
EDIT: I apologize for my grammar.
I've adjusted my set, and now it looks like this.  And I added lots of 'crap' to make it look like a slob's house.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Not sure I know what you mean by the 'should' but thanks for the comment about the set. It's actually pretty simple when zoomed out.

Also, that set looks nice, though I think you should sprinkle a few things around the floor to make it dirtier. Maybe lay them in a path that your minifigure won't have to walk over so you don't have trouble while animating.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

When I finished my script, I saw that it was a bad storyline...things went from one plot, to another and back again. mini/sad  Oh well, at least I will have a random little video... mini/confused  I'm also doing things I have never done before, like chroma key, long camera movements and floating horses. Who else is doing things they have done only in this animation...

Well, this is the first time that I have come up with a plot and wrote a storyline, based on the plot, which I'm keeping to... mini/delirium  (the main parts atleast mini/confused)
So maybe this brickfilm will be better than my others (no promises though - I still need to improve).

On my progress, I'm actually quite surprised at my pace but that is mostly due to me not being experienced at Brickfilming and don't really know if the animation,story,etc.. are good mini/sad.
However I'm not really bothered about this.  I mean, I'm so excited/anxious at participating! mini/XD

Have a nice day! mini/smile

Well, I've started animating again after 5 years. Actually animating after such a long break has come surprisingly easily, but my time is MUCH more limited. I'm generally able to animate a single 5-second shot every other day, and only if I'm consistent. It takes me one evening to build a set, one evening to set it up and perfect it, and one evening to animate, on average. And that's assuming I have the time or energy to dedicate to brickfilming every night, which I definitely don't.

I have the same problem, though I usually only get around 2 or 3 seconds done per stop-motioning. And getting a set perfect is well worth the time, there is nothing like seeing an amazingly well done set in an animation.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Well, I've been doing a bit of editing on the script during production. (As usual)
So I'm not sure if this frame will make it into the final cut or not. But here it is anyway.
I also settled on a title.
"If Rooftops Could Talk"

So yeah, there you go. As it sits now, I've only got one more page of script left to film, but there's also some other things that I may put in if I have time stop being as lazy.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Nice job, I really like the angle and all the in-the-set lights. Nice intriguing title, makes me want to see the film... like a lot.

And if you think your lazy, well I haven't even got one frame filmed for mine. True none of the characters I ordered have arrived yet, but that's beside the point.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Sweet lighting Pritchard! Pity about the glare on the face. I'd love to see a behind the scenes shot if you've got one.

I've also been struggling with extra shiny LEGO giving me unwanted reflections. Even though my lighting is very sitcom flat, I have to spend a long time just to get the lighting decent.

I've been posting most updates on my progress on my Twitter feed, though I will still occasionally post here.

Wish I had thought about that when I had that built. Nope, no set pictures.
I do have two other quick shots in that set, but I'd rather not release them at the moment.
They show off most of the set, but don't reveal much about the special lighting set-up.
That was the one set that I didn't bother to document, but I did snap pics of just about everything else.
Sorry.

@GEF,
Thanks! I was afraid the title was a bit too clunky, but thanks to you I'm warming to it myself.

Glad ya'll like the in-set lighting.
I've become a bit obsessed with it myself, and it's becoming to me what tilted angles are to Squid. mini/tongue

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

I kind of have too. Though it will never beat Squid's slanty angle obsession.

Anyway have some frames.

Re: The 'Contrast' update thread!

Hmm, I don't know about that green, it's not a dark green-ish green, but not quite a creepy, sickly yellow. Somewhere in the middle...An uncanny valley if you will. It might look fine with some other color walls, but on that white....

The blue light looks just fine, and the angles on the last three frames look tilted down just a tad too much.
The main set is a bit blocky, but it's not a bad look, just an observation.

Helps Pritchard with some ideas for Contrast.
Doesn't actually know what's up with the title.

The frame looks really cool.  I'm not really sure which character that is, but I'm guessing it's Mal 2.
It has a bright light shining into the camera and it's slanted.
It's really good.

I'm not really sure what to make of the title.  But I'm guessing you've developed the story a lot and added something so that somehow that title actually makes some sense.
