Ok, I have the following questions about Istopmotion:
1. Is the full version slow at taking photos in HD?
2. Is it really that much better than Sam-animation?
3. Is there a better program for the same money?

Oh yeah I forgot that they updated it, well, I don't have any experience with 3.1. Sorry.

I've used iStopmotion 2 for a couple of years now (2 or 3). I don't know anything about the third version, but the 2nd one does everything just as Carousel said.
Wait so the new version takes in HD?
I currently use SAM Animation. At some point, I plan on getting iStopMotion.

iStopmotion has a very very good workflow that I love and I think you will too.
Ah, I might have to upgrade then...
You can use a 1080p webcam with it, such as the c920, with the help of an application called 'Webcam Settings', which can be found and bought off the Mac App Store. I wouldn't use a DSLR with iStopmotion currently, as they're having an issue with live-view and things.

i use both a webcam and a dslr but my dslr is a nikon d50 so it doesnt have live feed either so i just look through the view finder

Would the live view on the camera still work? Is it just the live view in the iStopmotion window?
1080p HD? Holy crap. I must get this. 
Now I just bought it and its really cool but the send to iMovie button doesn't work do you guys know how to fix this.

That's really funny. It seems very odd for that not to work. What's wrong with exporting like usual?
