Topic: What Do I need for Green Screening, tips instructions what to avoid?

I got myself Green Material today, dark green long wrapping cardboard like material, does dark green work will it be alright?

Also How do I even begin to green screen?

Can I achieve green screen with Sony vegas Pro 8?

What tips should I keep in mind for green screening, is there important things to keep in mind?

When I get the basic of green screening, how can I put a video onto another video, hence the green screen?

How do I put a photo on the green screen, or a still image or background, that will stay in place as other things move?

How do I avoid dodging green marks and such on lego and other parts out of the green screen?

Any helpful answer relating to this topic, is very appreciative, also I'd love the help from people with experience in their own words, sometimes people give me links,

but however most links don't answer the specific questions I look for, if they do please if you got time, supply a link, otherwise your own experience and own words, would be more than great, and I'd be very grateful,

Dark Green isn't optimal, as a brighter more saturated color would work better. Although with a bit of tinkering you could get it to work. You begin by searching here, asking Google, and then armed with that knowledge you set things up and film. Yes, just about every editing program out there has a chroma key/green screen function. Tips are in the links above. Yes, you can put anything behind or in front of, a green screen.

And I have no experience, sorry.

While the links may not answer your exact questions, generally by reading everything in them you can figure 98.7% of your problems/questions out. And with something like green screen, asking Google would yield innumerable answers that would be very relevant.

Keep the thing you are filming about 12 inches from the greenscreen if possible, if you place it father from the greenscreen you can avoid major reflection of color on the lego from the greenscreen which can make keying a really hard job.

Why do you need to use a green screen? Unless it is really needed, just don't do it. Unless you get it so perfect that it is unnoticeable, green screening can ruin the film.

I would say that you should do tests with green screening, before attempting to use it in your film. I managed to do one shot with dark green green screen, but it was over 2 hours of tweaking and color correcting, so i wouldn't recommend it for someone who just heard what green screening is. Hey guys thanks alot for your comments, Thanks for your information on pulling the lego further from the green screen, that's a great and essential tip for beginners like me, so thanks the reason I want to do green screening, is for many reasons, a couple being 1, I want to try something new and a bit more advanced, and to Im tired of my bricks, I want to add a new feel to my scenes, open it up more,

I do did purchase light green paper today, so thanks Pritchard, and VerkkuUkkeliProductions for the suggestion, however guys I'm not getting what I asked what, I'm looking for an answer on how to do green screen, and unfortunetly, the links didn't help though thank you for it anyhow, I just want to know how do I start it on sony vegas, how do I add a video instead of a still pic on the green screen, and can my characters continue to move through out the green screened pic/film? And would I have to continue to tinker it every frame?

This is in after effects. I used to use sony vegas for chroma keying and such, but I can't remember how to do it. If you have acces to after effects you should use it. mini/wink

If you still want to use sony vegas, just search youtube tutorials.
