Wait...you were being serious? So, you think the following are not silly in the slightest:

-A Spaceship being driven by a giant whale
-GO GO POWER RANGER DALEKS
-A robot deactivating his own bomb THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE
-A giant mutant chicken attacking Vincent Van Gough
-A couple being able to deactivate a spaceship THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE
-The Doctor thinking that Roman soldiers are a match against aliens.
-Robot-Rory (who had far more personality than the real Rory) being able to reprogram his systems THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE
-Fish that swim in the air.
-The Silence wearing those ridiculous suits (The Silence were only scary that one time when we didn't actually see them but felt their presence messing with Amy's head)
-The TARDIS turning into a woman.
-That cloned human that grew a giant neck (making it even more blatantly a rip-off of The Thing)
-The headless monks. Just the headless monks.
-A guy gets his head chopped off...and is absolutely fine.
-'Lets Kill Hitler'
-Little people controlling a fake-body
-Amy getting turned into a giant doll
-A man managing to prevent himself being turned into a Cyberman THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE
-The Doctor saves time....THROUGH THE POWER OF LOVE (the more I say it, the more it turns from silly to stupid)
-Dinosaurs on a spaceship (on reflection, I'm actually really disappointed in that episode. It could have been brilliant fun, but they just couldn't get the tone right)
-The Statue of Liberty is a Stone Angel (which makes even less sense considering the statue isn't made of stone)
-A seemingly-ordinary motorbike suddenly being able to ride up The Shard.
-Stopping a giant pumpkin/Jack-O-Lantern THROUGH THE POWER OF SONG (and a leaf, I guess)

Yes, RTD was silly (there is no need for you to list all the silly things RTD did. I can do that myself) - but so is Moffat. In fact, Moffat is worse because his episodes in general have a much more serious tone, which means anything silly just sticks out even more and if the silliness was removed I would probably enjoy Doctor Who much much more. Its fine if you enjoy the silliness, or can just look past it - but to pretend it isn't there is just denial. Its like all the Lady Gaga fans ignoring that fact that Gaga is basically 70% Madonna. You can still enjoy her work, but you've got to accept that she isn't the most original person in the known universe.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Well yes of course it's silly! The whole point of the show is to show you that you can defeat evil with negotiation, outsmarting, and love, instead of cynacysim, violence, and cruelty. I enjoy it! I don't care that is isnt "realistic" or filled with "cold hard reality" that's why I watch the show! It's an escape! Btw Max The Silents (yes that's how the name of the race is spelt) were wearing suits to show that they never make anything. Just leach off of humans.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

But Max, comparing that to farting baby faced Aliens, the alien a 9 year old came up with for Love & Monsters, the aliens powered by love in Fear Her, trash like a human Dalek, a trashcan eating Mickey who then was replaced by a goofy Mickey, the entire metacrisis bore, face of boe and the aliens in the awful "Partners in Crime" who came out of people's fat or whatever it was... comparing things like that to the darker tone set by the Moffat era, those episodes comes across as silliness overboard

And yes silly is what the show is but when you can take that silly and turn it into something emotional it really doesn't come across as that silly anymore. But I never said the silliness was never there as you claimed.
There's been almost 40 episodes of the Moffat era now and you mentioned about 22 and alot of them were multiple things from one episode so i'm still correct in what I said.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

That was the best episode of this series so far.

people lost inside a damaged spaceship, usually my favourite scifi setting
really creepy monsters
stuff that makes almost no sense
wasn't a whole world's in danger episode this time
more TARDIS interior
actually felt rather scary

I really, really liked it.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Journey to the Centre of Making no Sense

That was this episode

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

That was weird. Really weird. It was quite good, Clara was fantastic (she was basically holding up the entire episode), but it was way too rushed and frantic, and had a lot of unnecessary parts. I find that many of these stories are on too big a scale for single episodes, and end up getting ruined by it in the long run. WE NEED MORE TWO-PARTERS!

I was also just thinking, imagine if Amy Pong'd was still there instead of Clara, as the main focus of the episode? It wouldn't have worked, Amy would have just pouted about with her signature attitude, and it would fundamentally fail. It makes me soooooooo grateful that Steven Moffat made a good casting choice for once with Clara.

Next week's episode looks pretty cool, I've warmed to Strax, Vastra and the other one.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

For the first time when it seems like Carousel enjoyed something of Moffat Who and the other people saying it was the best episode of the season is funny enough when I think it's the worst episode since The Rebel Flesh in Series 6.

Nothing, like nothing made sense in the entire episode. This is a brillaint premise but it was wasted, if there's an episode you can bash the hell out of, it's this episode. The dialogue is horrendous, phenomenally bad. That one dude turning out to be a human after they've said he's an android makes no sense at all. It added nothing to the story and instead just made it worse. Infact those 3 dudes are prime examples of dumbasses. That guy who took the material that can repair machines or whatever cannot really have a normal sized brain. First of all, in his mind he's just been locked in by a crazy person inside of a box that as far as he know is about to blow up. Why the hell would you ever try to resist him? Why would you even need to take it when you know that if you find Clara you'll get the entire machine, what the hell is the point of taking that glowy thing? The entire episode makes no sense, the android/human characters tell them to cut his arm off when he get stabbed by the metal thing but they end up cutting the metal pipe instead, why did he not just tell them to cut the pipe in the first place? Doesn't matter if he's an android or not, his arm would still be intacked. Also when he finds out he's a human he seems to have no problem when they cut the wire even though he should pretty much die of blood loss, that pipe was huge.
Oh and I just thought of this, if he thought he was an android... then he would also have thought that he didn't need to eat or drink? Now this entire thing makes less sense...

The best part was by far Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman acting wise as the other 3 guys were not very good, they had terrible lines but they couldn't even emote at all. The last thing i'd like to say is that the ending makes no sense at all.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Correction: I liked Clara. That is all. The three guys didn't need to be there at all, they didn't add anything, except maybe make the frantic pace of the episode even more frantic.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Well you did say "it was quite good"

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Well, I did say she was 'holding up the episode'. The correction was for both your post and my previous one...

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Dear BBC, you let somebody put JTTCOTT on Youtube, and I'll watch it. Sorry, but it's fair game then.
And I don't care if I haven't seen any other Series 7 episodes.

Review: (Sorry if it's a bit disjointed, I'm writing and watching at the same time.)
I don't care what kind of magnet it was, nothing should be able to hurt poor Sexy like that.
Clara's giggling while being chased, and then forgetting about the creature when it's time to show off a new room didn't make much sense. The time limit seemed tacked-on and a bit unnecessary, but the reveal on that was hilarious. I'm loving the sentient TARDIS stuff, and it lashing out/helping the different character was great. The zombie thing was...weird. And not explained that well IMHO. The ending was ok, bit of a paradox, and I hate big re-writes, but since it sorta happened and sorta didn't, so it wasn't that bad. It's a decent episode, and re-watchable for sure, but my list of great episodes is steadily growing, and this, once the brand-new feeling wares off, may fade into the background a bit...But just a bit.

The three guys were pretty stupid, but at least they were forgettable. (Trust me, being memorable for being dumb ain't a good thing.) The android reveal didn't add much, I understand they wanted to add a bit of back story so we might half-way care about these guys, but that wasn't the way to do it. It made the two seem like complete jerks, and ruined any sympathy I had for them.

"Good guys don't have zombie creatures!"-Best line ever.

One last question: Since its supposed to be such a big secret, why does The Doctor have his name written in a book that anybody might stumble on in the library room?

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

It wasn't a bad episode, its not the first time you've been inside the Tardis. But again it was a pretty decent (not fantastic) episode but at least it wasn't written by Moffit. Just goes to show the better shows are ones not written by him.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Dear BBC, tell your copyright enforcement fellas they're not doing a very good job. mini/tongue
Same guy, four episodes, all decent quality, and they've been on for two weeks.

The Rings of Akhaten
Hmm....OK, Clara's giggle is getting just a bit annoying. But it could be worse.
The idea was cool, but Clara got distracted from the planet off to the girl way too easily.
And The Doctor's shrugging off her absence was also slightly odd. And no, sorry Doctor, glasses aren't cool.
Oh, Doctor, you don't carry anything of any value around in your bigger-on-the-inside pockets? Nothing? Nothing at all?

The Vigil guys are cool, but were too easily defeated. And what is this now? The Super do-anything Sonic Screwdriver and friends? I don't mind it being powerful and great and all, but there's gotta be a limit. I'm indifferent to the singing, it wasn't spectacular, but wasn't terrible. Or to put it another way, it wasn't as good as "A Christmas Carol, but thankfully didn't descend to "Love and Monsters" levels.

I had heard a lot about The Doctor's speech in this one being really amazing, and while it was good, it's overrated. Clara's shorter one almost equals it IMHO. And I know this sounds bad, but one girl every thousand years ain't that bad for light and heat and gravity and stuff. Lacking that, nobody can live long. And, I don't know, it just seemed really short.

So...This will teach me not to spoil a huge plot point before hand. (Old God/Grandfather not being the mummy.) As I feel not knowing that would have added a lot to the episode. It's a fairly good episode, but it is currently the lowest of the three that I've seen. (Journey, The Snowmen, and this.)

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I like how most of the beginning of the Crimson Horror was nearly completely Doctorless.  Not that I dislike the Doctor, but I rather like episodes where the Doctor is more absent since it's a bit interesting.  It didn't stay that way for long, but it was still pretty cool.

I really loved this episode, I'm not sure if I like this one or the last is better.

I thought it was cool how there was so much red throughout, it made it look really creepy.  I actually felt a bit frightened in this episode, something which episodes in recent years haven't done as much.  Particularly at the reveal of Mr. Sweet

Spoiler (click to read)

Did anyone else find him remarkable cute?  I want a pet Mr. Sweet that doesn't kill people.  Or maybe I'll just settle for a rubber toy.

A Nightmare in Silver looks like it's going to be epic.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I didn't mind Strax, Jenny and Vastra, as they've got a good humorous formula together. The horse scene with Strax was particularly entertaining. It was nice to have Diana Rigg, albeit her character and the script were badly written.

I found the whole affair lacked any gravitas and was too frantic yet again. It's amazing how the influence of the Talons of Weng Chiang (literally one of the greatest whos of all time) was so evident, some scenes being exactly the same.

And since we all know my opinion on Matt Smith, I'll just say this, it was further intrenched by the Crimson Horror. In fact, after that episode, my dad spent a while searching up "when is Matt Smith leaving" on the internet. T'was pretty bad.

And next weeks episode looks utterly bad too.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I liked Matt Smith in the first 2 seasons he was in. Now he's kind of just frustrating me
