Re: YouTube

I think that is completely true. As my channel keeps growing, my daily new subscriber average is constantly rising. It makes sense, because the more people that watch your videos will take actions (likes, shares, favorites) and it will appear on other's feeds and the content will be spread more. Search results are also based on audience retention if I've heard. I think I read that in a YT Creator blogpost a few months ago.

Me neither. I hardly have any views, so it isn't affecting me.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: YouTube

So I had 90 subscribers (on my Larry Simmons channel) when I went to sleep, I wake up and I see... Michael Hickox left a positive comment on my video "Police Chase" on top of that (probably because of Feed) a bunch of his subscribers checked it out and in 4-5 hours I've got 19 subscribers more and over 300 views per night on my single video so far. Awesome! I love Fridays!

100+ Subscribers!

Re: YouTube

awesome... just broke 30 on my partnered channel, made $5 off it though! mini/bigsmile (please people, if you feel nice, subscribe...)
have any of you guys got free lance work through your youtube?

Re: YouTube

Visiting my page, I had a view count last week of 2208 views.  Yesterday it dropped to 2172.  Today it dropped further to 2170.  Huh?

Is there a rational explanation for this behavior?

Re: YouTube

So it turns out even more people came over to check out my film. Thanks to Michael Hickox I got 1K views in under 24 hours (Before that I had 1.2k views after 3 weeks mini/bigsmile), also 33 more subscribers. Also CollegeHumor replied to my comment on their "Comfortable with Him Lingerie" video so now people keep replying to me mini/lol  e-mail is full.

Re: YouTube

It's interesting how a banned user (violating forum rules, of course) can get his friends to dislike all my videos in a matter of days but I've been seeking likes/views for years with little to show for.

I'm not asking for pity likes.  I'm asking for genuine obligation-free feedback.  Do my videos deserve such hate?

Re: YouTube

Lechnology, it's plain as day that you don't deserve the hate that you are receiving from this certain pre-pubescent person, and don't forget that. He's a nasty one, thats for sure - can you not complain to YouTube, as he is spreading complete crap about you, is falsely disliking your videos due to his misguided need for vengeance instead of actually providing creative criticism if needed be, and as he also claims to know your name (in fact, he wrote it down in one of his comments)?

He's shown himself to be a sour, immature person, so I wouldn't take his disliking too hard, that said, I'd definitely get onto YouTube about him. mini/smile

Re: YouTube

Lech, The short answer is no. Your videos don't deserve any hate.

Some people may not care for the style or humor, but that's no reason to hate them.
And some nut gathering all his friends to dislike everything to fulfill some personal agenda is beyond stupid.
See if you can get Youtube to do something, if not, just ignore him, and mark all his comments as spam.

If I were to be honest, some of your replies didn't exactly help things, and it probably would have been better to simply ignore/mark as spam, but your frustration is certainly understandable.
This page may help. Just block him from your channel, and if you want to go that far, report him to YT.

Don't let this get you down.
Ignore him, and just keep thinking about all the new subs/views you've gotten in the past few days. mini/wink

Re: YouTube

He said himself that he was disliking all your videos because he got banned which doesn't really have to do with your videos at all. I'd say just keep him banned

Also I just noticed how few views you actually have. Because you are so active here on the forum and you regularly release good quality films I kind of expected your channel to have like, millions of views. mini/confused We should get more people to watch them

Re: YouTube

I don't actively promote.  I let the videos speak for themselves.

Apparently this user has a history of harassing other users.  How he has managed to continue to operate is appalling.  Bunch of blind yes-man subscribers doing his bidding as well.

Anyways, reported.

Re: YouTube

Good luck Lech! I personally think you don't deserve those dislikes. I do wonder though, does deleting the account also remove the dislikes? If it does, you should find the other accounts and try to get them wiped as well, otherwise you'll be stuck with a pool of dislikes, which is not fun.

Also going back to the one channel layout (the new channel thingie), I looked into it and the customization is actually pretty high (you can move around lots of stuff, and choose to add them or not. Sort of like the old channels). I personally love the banner and the social network links, but the ability to not upload background images still irks me. If you add that, and remove the sidebars you've got a pretty solid lay out. I also love the fact that it will be compatible across all devices. The consistency is very good in my opinion.

Final thing, I'm still very annoyed with the fact that YouTube is still centered to the left. They should really fix it!

I have an extension for Chrome, called "YT Native Center Layout". It centers YouTube for me, and I find it a very nice to have.

Now as for the new layout, I actually don't think it is that bad. Most of my thoughts are the same as Keesrets. I think my only big gripes about it are the fact you cannot upload a background image, and the fact that the spotlight player on the front page of channels is too small. Other than that, I actually don't think it is too bad.

Re: YouTube

Your work si fabulous Lech, and you don't deserve those dislikes. You're a very good member.

I also have a bunch of trolls and stupid haters lurking around my old videos... mini/eh

Well, audience retention would be a fair way to rank videos, however I believe the video with the most likes (best like/dislike ratio) should get that privilege IMO.

Re: YouTube

Lech you stuff is seriously good. Don't let some fool who can't be bothered to work his way up to such a level pull you down. Haters do stuff like that. Like what you said, your videos speak for themselves.

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

If that was true, then a video with 1 like and 0 dislikes would be at the top, even if the video is terrible and has like five views and the guy's mom liked it to make him feel better or something. I'm not trying to be mean but I feel like that system wouldn't work unless it somehow incorporated the amount of likes into it. (like a video with 25000 likes and three dislikes is probably a good thing.)

Re: YouTube

Sorry to disappoint you, Topit, but as far as I heard likes and dislikes both have the same value. This is why if you search the song Friday, for instance it still appears on the top, even though it has a ton of dislikes (and other videos have more likes then it).

Re: YouTube

Yes I knew that mini/confused
I'm not really understanding what you are saying... I think there needs to be a certain balance between amount of likes and ratio of likes to dislikes. No idea how they would do that though. mini/cat Probably need some wacko algorithm or whatever they call it.

Re: YouTube

I'm assuming I know what user you are referring to, Lech. He posted a comment on one of my YouTube videos asking for the names of BiM admins. Thankfully, I had sense enough to suspect something evil brewing and didn't even reply to his comment. This world is full of people like this sadly... Wish I could offer some help but unfortunately it is YouTube you'll be dealing with. Your videos definitely do not deserve this kind of treatment.
