Topic: DragonFrame

I've been out of the animation loop for a while and have had little to no practice with Dragonframe software. I really want to know how to film smoothly at 20-24 fps using the program. I know their is an option, I just can't get the hang of it. Any help?

Re: DragonFrame

Getting smooth animation has nothing to do with the program, and everything to do with the animator. mini/wink

I don't have any experience with Dragonframe, so can't answer any of those questions.
But if you're looking for the button to change it's settings from 15fps to 24fps, try searching for a "settings" window.
Or possibly "Render settings"/"Export settings."

Re: DragonFrame

I agree with what Pritchard said, it's all about the animator and his or her skills. DragonFrame is a tool that can be used to help those skills and compliment them. Thee way DragonFrame will help you achieve smooth motion is via its "onion skinning" feature, which allows you to overlay your live feed onto your previous frame that you took. This allows you to exactly match up the next position of your figure or subject. It takes a lot of the guess work out of animating and can cut down on the time you spend. But again, it's a tool. Simply having the onion skinning capability will not immediately give you smooth motion, there is a lot of technique and skill that needs to be learned first. I don't own DragonFrame but have used it once on only one of my short films. All my other films are done without the aid of stop-motion software. As you can see, achieving smooth motion is completely possible and easy without software, so long as you have the skills required.

Re: DragonFrame

The best way to get smoother animation is to film smother animation. I completely agree with the comments above but I think what you are asking about is frame blending. You can't do this in Dragonframe but you can in After Effects. See this post about it http://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/to … -blending/
