Hey BIM.
Going forward I am trying to improve my lighting and have these questions.
1- What is the best wattage to use, currently I am using 65 watts regular bulbs and flourescents.
2 - What is the general feel on the best bulbs to use? Regular bulbs, flourescents or even LED bulbs?
3 - What are soft boxes?

I can answer number 3: Here's a link to a video of me using one: clicky the link. Soft boxes have their advantages and disadvantages. They diffuse light really well, much better than paper; but they also limit the size of your set, you can't fit a whole street scape in one. They are really great for smaller sets, though. I believe LED lights are ideal, as they tend to not flicker, but this is something that I'm sort of just starting to explore myself, so I can't be much help there.

Question how do I get my hands on those soft box's?
There probably isn't a single "best" bulb and wattage. It all depends on your camera, the size of your "studio" and how your lights are set up.
The camera that I use is a Logitech c920.
I currently use 14 watt CFL bulbs (60 watt incandescent equivalent).My studio is about two feet square. For the most part I use two desk lamps, but I have three if another is needed. I have tried 23 watt bulbs, but because the lamps were so close to the set they produced a lot of glare. So it would make sense that the further away your light source is from your set, and the bigger your set is, the more wattage and lights you would need.
I have found that the Daylight bulbs produce the best image brightness and color wise.
I use good old fashioned paper to diffuse the light.
With a little trial and error you'll find what works for you.
