I will be doing a series of unique walk cycles, but I have one question:
Could animating a skeleton count as unique? Because mine looks like this:

It can't be animated like a normal minifigure at all.

Animating a skeleton is fine, however it's been done before I'm sure, so you'd want to make the walk unique.

It's not much, I'm very very busy at the moment. mini/smile

Oh my goodness. What kind of camera did you use for this? The image quality is as good as my Canon Rebel iOX something or other. Surely it's not a webcam

Re: The Animation Challenge

I'm pretty sure it's a canon 60D. I might be wrong though.

Re: The Animation Challenge

Pritchard's entry reminded me of a very special walk cycle that I've been planning to do in Vampire Cinema.
I was wanting to test it, and it somehow completely slipped my mind before.
So I've gone an animated yet another interesting walk cycle.
The vampire walk.

I think this one should be impressive.

My entry.... enjoy....

If all else fails.....FREAK OUT!!!!

Re: The Animation Challenge

Another short entry.
It's a vampire walk test for Vampire Cinema.

YouTube has ruined the audio. I have no idea how to fix this or why it happens. I recommend that you turn off your sound.

The file itself plays perfectly well, but after uploading it it's all wrong.
Deleting the video then re-uploading didn't help either.

Re: The Animation Challenge

Very awesome, Squid! Seems more ghostly to me, but whatever. My entry should be up later today.

LEGOs, Soccer, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and other completely irrelevant things.

As it should be.
Lord Redgrave plays a ghost by taking advantage of his vampire abilities.

Re: The Animation Challenge

Re: The Animation Challenge

One more day is left to submit entries! For these challenges I'm fairly flexible about the actual deadline, so as long as the entries come in sometime tomorrow it should be fine. I won't be judging until Monday at some point most likely. Keep up the great entries! This is going to be a very hard challenge to decide a winner for.

Re: The Animation Challenge

@thedoorwaystudio some really nicely animated walk cycles there. Reminds me a little of the stuff the guy who does the  Nightly News at Nine animations.

I used the Canon T2i for this. Good guess Legocloniac477, I normally use my 60D for animation, but I had to send it to Canon to be fixed, so I used my families extra T2i.

Here's a quick entry I just made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35bueVVpZwA

Re: The Animation Challenge

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you just missed the deadline.

Okay, it's official! The new animation challenge is "Unique/Interesting Walk Cycle"! Due date is next Sunday, January 27!

Last time I checked, it's the 28th. mini/sad

(Which also means that the results should be posted soon! )

Re: The Animation Challenge

Spider did say he would accept them today as well as long as he had them early enough. Says in his last post.

Re: The Animation Challenge

It was a very close race. I want to thank everyone for entering! We've got some really creative and unique entries coming out of this challenge, as I hoped. I like challenges that produce new and interesting things. So, I now present the results to the Unique/Interesting Walk Cycle challenge...

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/49.gif First Place: Squid | Watch Here & Here (addition to entry)
Commentary: A splendid entry full of inspiring techniques and ideas! This type of content is exactly what I was looking for. It was fresh and fun. The Swing Step and Telewalk were my favorite's by far. Oh, and the Vampire Walk was a really nice idea, looking forward to seeing this used in Vampire Cinema.

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/50.gif Second Place: PritchardStudios | Watch Here
Commentary: This entry was very close to first. You too did some really nice things with your walking! I really enjoyed the third cycle, as well as Chuck Norris! Your clockwork character design is a good concept as well that I thought was very fresh and creative. P.S. Invisible Woman really knows how to walk with style!

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/51.gif Third Place: thedoorwaystudios | Watch Here
Commentary: Some more unique and creative walking going on in this entry. I really enjoyed the last one in particular! I can see why someone was reminded of David Pickett. Keep up the nice work. I thought that the Wind-Up Toy cycle was a bit too similar to Squid's "Swing Step" however. It was a little different though, with a more exaggerated motion.

Other entries: (In no particular order. Just because you are last on this list, doesn't mean your entry was the worst. This is simply the order that I compiled them in.)

JonnDthunDer's Entry: Good try at animating Grievous and a battle droid. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that these were unique and creative enough to warrant placing. I did enjoy your Dalek test by the way.

NickyMcVay's Entry: Your spinning walk was a good idea and you executed it quite well. The rest of the video is more predominantly falling or jumping and not actual walking. The one where he is sliding on the ground was a good ideas as well, but the clay was really visible and took away from it quite dramatically.

tenny1028's Entry: The walk cycle present in this entry weren't all that new. The walking in the mud was a interesting idea though. Also, your final side shot of the guy running was a good idea, but his arms were moving much too slowly. If you worked on that shot some, it could be really good!

backyardlego's Entry: You animated these fairly well, but they just weren't quite unique enough. The limp test didn't really look like a limp in my opinion. I would definitely exaggerate the limp a lot more when you go to use it in a film. The silly walk was definitely the best out of them.

CookedCat's Entry: While you animated the droid quite well, it too was just not unique and creative enough to warrant placing. It's interesting that I haven't really seen people animate droids walking much in brickfilms.

Skrakabola's Entry: Good job trying new things and getting creative with these walks. The first creature was an interesting concept. I also liked the "row boat". If the animation was smoother on these walks, they would be a lot nicer.

JoshWaFX's Entry: The high kick was nice and looked pretty good with the motion blur added. I would recommend easing in and out of the kick just a bit more and it should look really good. The Itch Dog Butt one had me laughing. Wasn't expecting that and the spinning arms and the guy's face were great! It seemed a bit like NickMcVay's entry, so I'm not sure if you got the idea from him or not, but you executed it really well.

LASF's Entry: Most of these motions I had seen before and they weren't all that creative or new unfortunately. The head one was probably the most unique out of them though.
