Topic: Water?

Hi everyone, I do not know what to use for water, specifically for an ocean. I planned to do it in CGI in blender but I dont know how to have LEGO boats travel on the water using CG. So any other ideas?

This thread should not go here , otherwise the moderators will move this into the pre-production or production

Re: Water?

Yes it's a production related thread. You could use greenscreen/chroma keying technique, you could simply use a colored paper (blue'ish) and pretend that it's water and etc. there are at least a few good ways to do it, unless you have the skills and the equipment to pull of decent chroma keying effect I'd suggest using colored cardboard OR you could do something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-UNVZ9tmdQ.

Decent chroma keying example is here:

Re: Water?

There some good examples of animating water with actual Lego rather then in post in this thread:

The beginning part of this Medieval Village tutorial explains how to do water:

Wow, nice set! I can't wait to see the outcome of it. I like how there are more studs around where the rock is in the water since, in real life, that's where the water would foam up most. Good luck animating the water though since you basically have to move all the studs over and over again to make the water look like it's moving.

Re: Water?

That's actually not my MOC, although I will use that effect for a few upcoming films of mine.
Also, here is the outcome of the set (not by me):

That EuroBricks guide is still pretty cool. You all should check it out.
