Topic: Frames and thoughts on unfinished films

Yesterday I was deleting some old stuff on my comptuter, then I found some old footage of our (me and my brother) scrapped films, mostly images. I also found some unused scripts and ideas in my closet.

I searched for some topics about this but couldn't find any. So I thought we could share some thoughts of our unfinished films.  Why didn't you finish the film? Was it bad or just lack of motivation? What was it about?

Here's one of my own.

This is from when me and my brother decided to get back to stop motion and brickfilming again. The movie was suppose to be about a scientist who creates a monster and then goes rampage, really original right? We didn't finish it because it looked pretty bad and we actually thought we could do better if we just had spent more time on it. Almost half of the film had been shot. So instead of this one we moved on to another film who actually got filmed and published. Here's two images from the film.

ouch!

Re: Frames and thoughts on unfinished films

Nice frames, Noobster. I like the set details in those.

Here is a link to a script (you can download) I've written before the Holiday break. It's entitled "Cooking with Hobbits" and it's basically a cooking show with creatures from Middle-earth. I even recorded some of my lines for the film, but at the end was motivated to work on something else. I might still return to this some time later, however, since even though the idea is not entirely something special, I like how the script itself came out. I might post frames from an older unfinished project I had in May; this one wasn't much of a big deal.

Great idea for a thread!

Here's two frames from an untitled film I was working on for last year's BRAWL:

It was about a man forbidden by his wife to eat any cookies from their cookie jar. Of course, the man goes ahead and tries to sneakily steal a couple cookies, but he ends up falling into the jar and gets chased around by giant cookies. Yeah, it was pretty random. I shot about 1/3 of the film and never finished it due to time constraints and very, very bad planning. I didn't actually have an organized script or any sense of how I wanted it to turn out, so I called it quits towards the end of the competition. I may revisit the idea though.

@MouseDroid     Neat frames, I would defiantly like to see that film if you ever decide to make it.

Re: Frames and thoughts on unfinished films

@MouseDroid - Haha that concept sounds wonderful! I would love to see that made into a film.

Re: Frames and thoughts on unfinished films

@ MouseDroid: I agree with 0DonkeyKong and Repelling Spider, you should definitley continue with the film because it sound very cool.

Re: Frames and thoughts on unfinished films

I think we all want to see that film finished mini/tongue . I scripted and recorded lines for a film for the Christmas in a minute competition, but didn't animate it simply because I didn't have enough time between when I got home from college and Christmas Eve. However I've had the idea for so long and like it so much, there's a very good chance I'll end up making it, especially since RP said he wanted to run the contest again next year. mini/smile
