Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

c920. Does 1080p, has a far higher software-enhanced 15MP resolution, has tripod mount etc. It's also newer that the 9000.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

Honestly I'd suggest the qcp9k. You'll be able to get it cheaper and it's perfectly fine for Brickfilming. The c920 has 1080p whilst the qcp9k does 720p, sure, but recently webcams are starting to forsake manual controls (which brickfilmers need) in favour of making things automatic and even in some cases, dumbing them down. The c20 for example only has 10 "notches" for focusing whereas the qcp9k has 100 which can allow for tighter focusing and smooth focus pulls.

Newer does not always mean better, and it especially does not always mean better for niche requirements, such as that of stop motion animators.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

Actually Sean, I have the c920, and it has about 30-50 "notches" fr focusing. I would personnally recommend the c920, as it has full manual control, great quality, quality, and more. Also, Carousel, you said it has 15mp software-enhanced images. That's true, but it doesn't help any, imo. Plus, the actual sensor is only 3mp, which is enough for 1080p. So, anyway, if you don't have a problem with paying the extra $20-$30, I'd suggest you go with the c920. Also, have you considered a canon powershot camera. They look like they're good for brickfilming (Smeagol uses one I know, seems to like it). Just another thing to consider.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

THanks for correcting me - I looked it up and I was getting the c910 confused with the c920. I haven't used the latter (I got mixed up and thought they were one and the same) so I'll reserve judgement on it. I'll leave my input at this - I have not been disappointed with the qcp9k.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

Hey guys thanks so much for your replies, and thanks sean for your input on the QcPro 9000, however I ended up getting the C920 pro, for the fact they actually discontinued the Qcpro 9000 everywhere, and to be honest I just didn't want to wait for it to arrive from somewere online, I also had the c920 a while back but it broke due to unforeseen circumstances, and as I never had the qcp9k I wanted more input on it, But thanks legoguy501 and Carousel.

Btw legoguy501, the canon power shot, what is it thats makes it very efficient? Does it allow usb porting acting as a webcam with remote control capturing? Because I looked in a few stores today and had absolutely no luck finding any cameras with remote control.
I'd appreciate a bit of your knowledge if you have the time.

Thanks again to everyone who replied with some input, I very much appreciate it.

Kind regards, Generalned

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

Well, I haven't ever actually owned/used one, but if you look on Canon's website, you can research the different models some (along the left side there're drop down menus with the cameras). And yes, they connect via usb cable, so you can remote capture (not sure if they can be used with MJ or HF, but I think they might come with software). Now like I say, I don't know a ton about them, but I know Nick Durron and Smeagol use them for brickfilming, so you might want to get input from one of them.

For reasons why they would be better, one thing is they have optical zoom, which is far better than digital zoom. They can also be used for basic photography, and have much larger optical sensors (10+ mp). It would allow for better quality (I think, even at just 1080p) and for the ability to do digital camera movements.

Quickcam Pro 9000 is beast if you know how to use it. Best example...

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

How do you get as high of quality with the quickcam 9000 as in "the machine" and in Zachfb's BRAWL 2011 entry?

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 or C920?

Go with the C920. As it is the newer webcam, the quality of the images is higher then the 9000. I have to say, "It is over [the] 9000!" mini/smile

I believe lighting is the secret mini/smile and of course the right manual settings. Don't be afraid to experiment. "The Machine" camera rigs are beast though, duplicating that is pretty much impossible.
