Topic: Brickfilmer Podcasts

Recently I have been interested by the idea of podcasting which for those who don't know, basically a pre recorded radio show that is uploaded to the internet in audio format. Mostly mp3. Because of this I am setting up a website (name is yet to be decided) that will allow you to make an account and hopefully anyone on the forum who has the equipment (mic, headphones, audacity) will be able to make a podcast for others to listen to. I think  that the most relevant time to listen would be while animating as that dark room animators spend their lives in can get pretty lonely.

Please tell me what you think as I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

We've had about 4 podcasts running and they've all failed (although one of them recently recorded an episode that will probably be released soon)

this is nothing new, sorry

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

We should've turned our 40 hour long skype call into a live BiM podcast.

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

BrickFM is actually going to be starting up again after New Years.  The biggest issue that we have with Podcasts is trying to find a time that is consistant and works for all people.

I actually believe that listening to music/watching TV is a really bad Idea. When I first started animating, I would always have a video or something on in the background, and my animation back then was pretty bad. Once I learned to unplug myself while animating, I was shocked to see how quickly my animation improved. I got this advice from the animation survival kit. Animation does require lots of concentration, after all.

If I want to listen to a podcast (And the only one I listen to at the moment is the YogPod), I usually listen to it while riding my bike or on a car trip.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

Maybe if there were 2 podcasts, one about stop motion, and the other about LEGO. That way they could be spread out during the day and cater for people of all timezones. Besides, they get downloaded anyway.
I used to listen to the infamous Star Wars Talk Show, and they did their show live each week on UStream, as well as mp3. I don't know their set up, but I assume it'd be as simple as a webcam, and your mic.

Ending =/= failure.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

Precisely. The Official BiM Podcast has only had one episode so far, but I think you'd be hard pressed to claim it wasn't a rousing success on every level.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

We should have the hosts of the other podcasts come together to pick up the Official BiM Podcast again. Or at least get a couple people to host.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

I get the impression that leaving it to a couple of people leads to a fairly short life span. This is why, if something like this was to go ahead it should be open to anyone. Also the beauty of podcasts is that you don't have to find a right time for everyone to listen to becuase they are audio files on the internet that someone can listen to at any time.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

No, the problem mentioned was not getting all the people to listen, it was to get all the hosts to record it at a good time

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

I was thinking that perhaps if say 3 or 4 people were 'in charge' and took turns to host a weekly podcast then they would only have to dedicate themselves to it monthly rather then weekly and we would still get a weekly podcast as a result. Also if one person was busy for awhile the others could cover for them.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

I want to start a podcast with someone that takes the piss out of everything and everyone on the forum, and brickfilms, drop me a pm if this interests anyone.

I need probably 2 more dudes to chat crap with me about stuff for half an hour every month, it will be hilarious.

Re: Brickfilmer Podcasts

Once I get the hang of audio syncing and editing on my PC I'll be bringing back interviews with brickfilmers.
