Topic: Returning to Brickfilming - Where to start?

Hey everyone.

As the title may suggest, I'm making a return to Brickfilming.
It's been a long, long time - about 1 and a half years, give or take. I started when I was 9, and I'm now 14, so yeah. Long time.
I have good hardware and software, but I have no idea where to start. Should I try and pick up where I left off? Should I start again from scratch, practicing all the different movements and things? Halp pl0x.

Hardware
Mid-High end gaming PC
Canon Ixus 100
Studio softbox with photography lights
About 2 boxes of lego
Tripod
Software
Adobe CS5 Master Edition (PhotoShop, After Effects, Premiere, etc.)
Audacity
Any free softwarez you guys recommend :

I'm back. Possibly.

Nice to have you back, I think you're going to see some redundant responses, but really, all you need to do it start.  I found myself gone for awhile, and THAC really just ignited me again.  Start by making a small film and get bigger.

Dude, I remember you! mini/bigsmile
I'm kinda worried that everyone's gonna remember me as the n00b I was when I joined over 2 years ago mini/tongue I'm still a noob, but now I'm a slightly more mature noob mini/bigsmile
Anyway, that's what I'll probably do mini/smile I'm going to animate *something* tomorrow - it was dad getting his softbox which reminded me of the existance of BiM and brickfilming mini/smile

WHOA IT'S YOU!
Anyway, I think that the very first place to start off is with some standard tests, try recording some dialogue and animating to it as well as trying out some over the top movements. You might also wanna practice scripting again, maybe try just writing some really short films to get back into things.

Re: Returning to Brickfilming - Where to start?

I think a proper return to brickfilming would have to start with ponies.

Don't get sucked into the ponies yet, you'll be taken over.

I agree with Binding Brick. Do some tests, regain a feel for the movements and increments. Doesn't matter if you're a "n00b" this is a community (family to me). Where we help and encourage each other, most of the time. mini/tongue
Just start small. Don't come up with anything too big at the start, you may become overwhelmed and give up. Have fun with it. Grab your lego, your camera, and just start filming what comes to your mind. mini/wink

Make test animations, get back into the swing. Then make some actual films.

Yes.
Ponies are most important.

Just out of mild curiosity, what exactly do anthropomorphic cartoon ponies have in common with brickfilming?

Retribution (3rd place in BRAWL 2015)

Most of us are not bronies , and that's a common fact

Added to that, what, exactly, makes people even like said anthropomorphic cartoon ponies?

Seconded.

On topic.
I would just do some. It is really easy to over plan and over think stuff and never even getting around to animating (I know, I catch myself doing it quite a lot...). If your just getting back into it, I'd just sit down, and animate some stuff.
