Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Looks like a 1930's movie... could be 40's though. My guess is...

Carnival of Sinners aka La Main du diable (1943)

- Directed by Maurice Tourneur
- Running time: 78 minutes
- Starring Pierre Fresnay the same fella who was in Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934)"

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Nope, it's not that.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Hmm, we're probably gonna need a hint or 2

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

I agree.

Is it À nous la liberté (1931)?

- Released on Decembest 31st, 1931.
- Was nominated for Oscar.
- Is a musical.
- Written and directed by Rene Clair.

Hint : Older.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Metropolis

Released in 1927
Directed by Fritz Lang
Has the length of 153 minutes

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Nosferatu (1922)

Directed by F.W. Murnau
Starring Max Schreck
Based on Bram Stoker's Dracula

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

UN CHIEN ANDALOU (1929) aka An Andalusian Dog. (Among my favorite films ever and certainly a must-watch).

- Runtime is only 16 minutes.
- Has one of the most disturbing scenes ever seen in a film, and to think that it was made in 1929... AMAZING!
- Included among the '1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die', edited by Steven Jay Schneider.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Hehe, I love that one. I did a presentation on Salvador Dalí for my French class and I made everybody watch that. mini/cat

So because you three have already taken all my legit guesses I will just

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Silent film from 1920s
German Expressionist fim
Introduced twisted plots to cinema

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Again? Double post? I think my mouse is broken. Sorry about this. I'll just put another completely random guess

Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde
made in 1920
has John Barrymore
Never seen it.

OMG Thanks for reminding me of the title! I would've gone with this if only I could've rememberd the title. Thanks pal, I'm gonna re-watch it some day soon. I loved it.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

It looks older than 20's. More like between 1900 and 1915.

I'll try with this one:
Intolerance
Directed by David W. Griffith
1916
Lilian Gish

I agree with you.

Looks like a ''10's'' movie.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

My bad guys. I've been watching too many 60's and 70's movies recently I forgot the difference between 1910's 1920's 1930's movies when it comes to looks.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

It's none of them.

That's correct.

Hint : It's one of the few films of this period with an original score.
