Topic: Steam effect.

Hi.

Does anyone know how to do a good steam effect on Gimp, like when a glass bottle that is empty is left on a stove andn begins to heat up. Thanks.

Re: Steam effect.

I would use particles, either from AE, Blender, or some other package.

If you don't have something like that, stock footage might work, but it could be tough.

Re: Steam effect.

Dude, go to detonationfilms.com and look if they have a steam effect.
It isn't that hard to think about that before you ask.

EDIT: and no, people, i'm not harsh against him, i'm just telling him he can do homework too.

Re: Steam effect.

It is nice to see that you are helping others to become independent (no, i'm not being sacrcastic) but when I went to detonationfilms.com al I can find are smoke effects. I'm just want to know if anyone has  seen any steam effects there and if so, where?

Re: Steam effect.

If you could find a good smoke effect and speed it up and and add a verticle blur of sorts. It could work. I haven't tried but it might work.

Re: Steam effect.

In premeire pro I can add a " directional blur" and I can chnage the angle to 90 degrees. I havent used gimp but if you just blur it some how and speed it up it might work. I'll try some tests.

[Edit]
heres a test I tried I couldn't figure out how to get a big cloud of steam but I was able to get some good wisps of steam
