Topic: What if...?

So this is a new discussion thread idea I thought of. We have a continuing series of open ended what if questions related to the movie industry. What will happen is I post the first what if, then there are at least 3 different people who discuss the what if situation. The third person can choose to ask the next what if, or discussion can continue until someone wants to ask the next one.

So here's the first one: What if Pixar and Dreamworks joined to make an animation?

Shrek V-The Revenge of the Tin Toy

mini/tongue  I don't know. But, it seems like a good idea.  I mean, they're both really fine animation companies.

Re: What if...?

I'd actually want to see it. Both companies have great artistry and styles and I'd like to see what they come up with.

I'd like to see a crossover actually, maybe not for a feature length movie but like a short or something.. A crossover between maybe like some of their similar movies like maybe The Incredibles/Megamind (that'd be hilarious).

But I know for sure I do NOT want them to merge companies at all. Like I just hope Disney doesn't buy out Dreamworks  (even though it's inevitable).

Re: What if...?

I wouldn't like it. Their styles are a bit too different- Pixar has much more deep-meaning or deep-idea filled movies whereas Dreamworks just tries to go for entertainment value.

What if Disney were to buy Cartoon Network or Nick?

Re: What if...?

If they bought Cartoon Network, I'd be verrrry upset and I'd probably start crying because it'd be the worst thing ever, though Disney's recent cartoons do remind me of Cartoon Network stuff I'd still be furious just because it's just not ok

I just don't want to think about what Disney would try to do to something like Adventure Time or Adult Swim oi vey no

I wouldn't care if they bought Nick tho, it'd be pretty much the same as it is now. Both Nick and The Disney Channel have tons of crappy sitcoms and a few good cartoons, so yeah it wouldn't change that much I don't think

Re: What if...?

I don't know if much change could really go to Cartoon Network, now that it's plunged into live-action teen sitcoms. Good, old-fashioned (ACTUAL cartoon) shows are never on anymore, and channels such as Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are going to the teens. With adult-y movies like Fun Size coming out, good old television isn't really "good" anymore. For all I care, Disney can have those two.

Re: What if...?

I have never watched Cartoon Network, as it's not on freeview in Australia. What I will say though, is that I hope it doesn't happen. Disney channel and CN are competitors in a way, and to see one buy the other would remove competition, removing the option for us to watch what we want. The shows on the two would become too similar for it to work.

Someone else can post the next what if.

Re: What if...?

Definitely Clay.

Or plastic Dinosaur figurines.

Re: What if...?

Action Figures. It would be hard to get used to animating those instead of minifigs but there's nothin' I can do since LEGO is gone mini/sad ha ha

Re: What if...?

@larrystudios you think action figures are hard to animate? well look what bandai did a few years back

The ones I have (Walking Dead and Wrestling figures) are definitely hard to animate because they can't even stand properly. I'm always forced to use clay or gum to make them stand still (most of the figs I have have loose joints) + I've been animating LEGO figures for over 5 years now and I'm way too used to that mini/lol

Re: What if...?

If LEGO didn't exist, including Megablocks, etc., then I guess I'd be playing with model train sets and my slot cars.

If Megablocks existed, at least we have bricks to build with, right?

What if the internet wouldn't allow you to upload videos, meaning no brickfilms?

mini/eek  I would show my brickfilms to my friends then, but your question definitely sounds like from a decent horror movie. mini/smile

Re: What if...?

Flash. I'm already learning to use it.
Or traditional animation. I have to start working on it.

I used to love those Disney Channel sitcoms :'(

I don't know, I hadn't really put much thought into it. Dreamworks does have a tendency to be more crude and raw, which isn't the image Disney is looking for under its Pixar brand. I would think such a film would be something in the style of the original Toy Story film, which had its share of adult humor without going overboard.

I really could care less if Disney bought Nick or Cartoon Network. I don't watch Nick except for Spongebob on occasion and I've never been a CN fan (Except for the Regular Show, and sometimes the Looney Toons Show). Personally I don't think that those to channels will ever be bought out by another company in my lifetime because the current companies that own those two networks are massive corporations on their own (Turner and Viacom).

You probably didn't read the first post. Let me help you out. One person asks a "what if" question, and people discuss it. Then, the third person to answer asks the next question.
