Topic: Acorn: The Image Editor For Humans

Ok! So you won't be hearing complaining from me about a photo editor anymore! I recently got Acorn. A simple,(but very, very powerful), image editor. So far, I've learned to do lightsaber effects, and green screening. It'll probably do masking. Haven't tried it out yet, though. But the main thing is, I finally got it! I wonder why not many people in the brick filming community have heard of this. I'm trying to get the word out about this awesome program!

As far as I can tell it looks about the same as GIMP, but I may be wrong because I don't do much editing at all. However, the brush designer tool is really nice, I actually have no idea if you can do that in GIMP

That does look pretty nice. Honestly though, GIMP is easily as powerful and perfect for my requirements. (Or... requirement... that it be free... mini/bigsmile )

@topitmunkeydog I assure you. You can make any brush you could ever want in GIMP. Animated brushes and everything. It might not be as intuitive though.

Um, excuse me? Acorn? You say it's equivalent to GIMP? Acorn is, in my opinion, better then programs like Photoshop!

It seems decent for quick fixes, making greeting cards, etc., but as far as photo editing goes, it's definitely missing some key features that anyone who is minimally serious about photography should have. From their website it seems that their aren't very many manual adjustment options, mostly just preset filters, which will never give you exactly what you want. Most people are afraid of Photoshop because it seems complicated, when the reality is it only takes the effort of watching a few tutorials to get used to it. The phrase "better than Photoshop" should be put into more context, especially considering the multitude of things that Photoshop can do that Acorn can't.
