Topic: "Scratchy" voices in Audacity?

I was just wondering, is there any way to make voices sound "scratchier" or more mechanical in Audacity?  I was thinking of something roughly between the Daleks in Doctor Who and Bane in Dark Knight Rises.  Any suggestions?

Well I'd start by recording your lines while talking into a cup or a metal can or something. Then you could try cutting some highs and lows out,and boosting the mids a little bit.

This is probably a total newbie question, but how do you cut out highs and lows and boost mids?

In Audacity, Effect > Equalization. Then adjust the bar to look something like this:

That's also how you would do a phone simulation or a stormtrooper voice.
