you know I am busy, and I have only time to indulge for 24h per year in my favorite hobby. So here is the question: When will be THAC X this year? I am craving to animate!

It will probably be mid-December again, as far as I know.
Nothing's planned yet and no one has stepped forward, but it's a safe bet that it'll take place in mid-December or early January. That's how it usually goes!

Yeah, usually it's December or early January. I do want it to happen and be BiM official and all, though I'm unlikely to have the time to run it myself so we'll need to find a suitable candidate for that.

Hopefully someone suitable will be selected. And I still hope it's in December instead of January.
If we can't find a host we could make it democratic, I saw that for other events like game jams, where everyone submits a theme, we make a list with numbers as indexes, and we all submit another number, the sum of all numbers (modulo the length of the list) selects the theme....
After all: hosting the event shouldn't preclude someone from also entering. At least that would be my concern...

It is always held over a Saturday and Sunday. Beyond that, we try to avoid being too close to Christmas or New Year's.
I think a democratic approach would somewhat detract from the equality and element of surprise. Either way, though, we'd still need an organizer.
Talking to a possible organizer for the contest.
Any thoughts, folks, on whether December 29/30 or January 5/6 would be preferable? These are the only post-Christmas Saturday/Sunday dates available. My understanding is many people want THAC to be held after Christmas so they can use new LEGO and gadgets they got for Christmas.

I've never entered on of these before, but hope to this year. I like your idea of December 29/30 best.

School kicks in on January 3rd for me. And us Russians celebrate Christmas on New Year's eve, so maybe Mid-December, like last year?
11/12 is not an option, whether it means December 11/12 or January 11/12. THAC is always held over a weekend, not in the middle of the week, since some people with jobs like to enter.
I think anything in January after 5/6 is too late because of people getting back to school by then. We did hold THAC before Christmas last year, but that always gets complaints, and we only did it because the clash of other possibilities with holidays was too close that year.
