Topic: Skywalker

Many years ago, before the age of Youtube and Star Wars Fanfics were on AtomFilms (now Atom.com) I came across a fanfic where a Jedi lost his lightsaber and it landed in the suburbs of...I guess Earth?  A kid finds it and wreaks havoc with it until the Jedi returns to retrieve his saber.  I didn't think much of the video at the time, it had decent effects but lacked cinematography.  In recent years, I've been mulling over a Star Wars flick as I haven't done one, officially.  My idea is inspired by that fanfic.

Rough outline of my idea:

  • Set centuries before Phantom Menace

  • Jedi transporting valuable item, is pursued by bounty hunters.

  • Jedi reaches a desolate planet (few farms, a spaceport here and there)

  • Bounty Hunters shoot down the Jedi's transport in the upper ionosphere.

  • As the transport descends down to the planet, the Jedi enters an escape pod with valuable item but loses his lightsaber as the transport breaks apart.

  • On the planet surface, it is early morning as a farm boy watches through binoculars of the burning transport falls and crashes in the distant.

  • The boy wakes his father, showing his father the binocular's recording.

  • Together, they travel to the crash site.  The property owner where the transport crashed into had already put out the fire and let the farm boy and his dad in to scavenge.

  • The boy finds the Jedi's lightsaber but keeps it to himself.

  • The boy, at home, plays with the lightsaber, gets into a number of antics with it.

  • The Bounty Hunters come to the wreckage looking for the valuable item, not knowing about the escape pod.

  • The boy brings the lightsaber to school and gets into a number of antics with it.

  • The bounty Hunters learn about the boy with the lightsaber and thinks he also has the valuable item.

  • The bounty hunters hold the boy and his parents hostage as they tear through their farm looking for the valuable item.

  • The Jedi shows up to fight off the bounty hunter

  • The boy helps out, managing to dispatch one or two bounty hunters with the Jedi's lightsaber

  • The bounty hunters flee.

  • The Jedi commends the boy for his skills and asked the boy his name

  • Boy says, "Skywalker.  Markham Skywalker" (A wink at Mark Hamill)

Given that we don't know much of the Skywalker family background beyond Shmi Skywalker, I feel this allows for creative liberties, even if it's not canon.

Re: Skywalker

I like it mate... if there's anyway in which I could help...

Re: Skywalker

Right now it's just an idea.  I'm gauging the interest.  The planned agenda is be the traditional scriptwriting, casting, set building, etc.  But that comes later as I have other projects to tackle first.  More than likely within the next few months, the focus will just be on the scriptwriting.  A Google Drive doc will be set up for collaboration, invite only.

Re: Skywalker

ok, will it be a brick film or a live action? this is set slightly in the future right? <100 years sorta thing?

Re: Skywalker

Brickfilm.  Not sure how to answer the future question since it's set in Star Wars, a long time ago in a galaxy far away, centuries before Phantom Menace.  The whole Star Wars Expanded universe spans billions of years before A New Hope and over a hundred years after.

Re: Skywalker

the timeline question is, pretty much, today? september 25th 2012, or a hundred years later, september 2112.... just want to know what tech is on earth at the time....

Re: Skywalker

It has nothing to do with us.  It's all set in the Star Wars Universe.  The planet the transport crashes on could be Tatooine or some other desolate planet with small number of farms.

Re: Skywalker

oh, ok, miss read, thought, like the base, it was based on earth...

I like the planet naboo as a side point, if it where on there, that'd be cool.

Re: Skywalker

Some name ideas as an homage to the actors.

Markham's parents:
Haysen (homage to Hayden Christensen)
Talie (homage to Natalie Portman)

If Markham has a sibling or two, the female sibling could be named Arrie (homage to Carrie Fisher).

Albeit unoriginal, the idea for the film is to not mention "Skywalker" until the last line of the film.  These obvious homages would be the only hints to the Skywalker name.

Re: Skywalker

This sounds pretty good, actually. And well organized and relatively original. Would this be done in CGI if you do decide to finish it?

Re: Skywalker

Yes, CGI.  Don't have enough physical space nor materials for stop-motion.  Although, worst case, I have to drop the project, I'm willing to throw it out there as a community project and let y'all take the reins.  But that's just hypothetical speaky nonsense thingy.

Re: Skywalker

I like the concept. This could turn out great if you actually finishes it!

Re: Skywalker

Yes more Star Wars films.

Lechnology is a well respected brickfilmer/animator in this community, and he put alot of thought in this idea. I think that if anyone here should make a Star Wars brickfilm, it's him, because he made a pretty ''original'' script if you ask me.

But I don't think you thought this far ahead, did you? mini/confused

''You don't have to tell him how great is coffee is man!''

Re: Skywalker

I definitely like the idea, I think you should pursue it. mini/smile

Re: Skywalker

You should do this!  After seeing the quality of the Dark Knight Wises, I know this would be excellent!
Good luck!

That's a really unhelpful post. If you want to spark discussion, even debate with constructive criticism, that's great. It's quite welcome, in fact. Posts like this, however, don't add anything valuable to the conversation.

Considering that this is a pattern of behavior from you and that I'm not the first moderator to address this, you need to think about whether you want to change your behavior or take it elsewhere.

I used to be like you, in a way. I was mean and angry at the members. But, I stopped. And we hope you will too. Be more nicer please.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?
