Topic: Need Good Moderately Expensive Special FX

Hey guys! My films are okay, they have masking, some have blurring and stuff.. all done in Gimp.
Does anyone know any good programs that aren't to expensive that I can use for like smoke, stuff exploding etc..?

I know there's adobe after effects and Vegas thing... but they are all like $400+ and I don't have those kind of funds mini/confused
soz, if anyone knows good fairly cheap editing programs, I'd be grateful mini/smile

Frankly, After effects in the best one out there, but it is pretty expensive.
You might want to look at HitFilm. I've heard some good things about it.

HitFilm Ultimate by FXHome is also a very good piece of software which covers all compositing needs. Also has a fantastic Particle System generator which is worth the price in itself.

Of course, Blender 3d is a free option.  Yes there might be a little bit of a learning curve but but it can do most, if not all, the things that these products do.  And because if more or less open-source, there a plenty of tutorials for basically every aspect of it.  AND you wouldn't have to pay for the tons of new upgrades that are currently being developed because, hey, its free.

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.
