Topic: I started a business!

You read the title, I'm now officially self-employed. It's a media design business, but I also compose music.
Since I'm still a student, I'm way cheaper than those big design studio's, and that's exactly the market I'm going for; small company's that want something special (a video, animations, a new logo) but don't want to pay THAT much.

Now, I hear you thinking, why all post this? Not because I want your money, but because I want to thank this forum, the members, and the whole internet for me reaching this milestone.

Since 2007, I became interested in brickfilms, and that became the portal to the whole film world. I started learning After Effects by the age of 14 (!) because I saw these cool effects in brickfilms. I started composing with Mixcraft because I read that Smeagol used that to make his soundtracks. I can animate with Carrara because Nick Durron gave me some simple tips. Not the forget Darkman, that showed me that you can make a film with someone you don't know in real life. I could mention some more things, but I think you get the idea.

Well anyway. This doesn't even mean I'm leaving the forums, because I like to see some great projects evolving and helping people out with brickfilms.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you guys, and I thought this was the right moment.
OH, and if you just want to check my site out:

Re: I started a business!

I'll still do it for free for this forum, but only if I can use it also for promotional work.
But with the limited time I have, I only can do a few.

I require one million dollars. I do accept checks.

Good luck with making some money and finding clients. Scary to think I'll have to do that whole real world making money thing too in a couple years once I'm done with graduating from uni again.

Re: I started a business!

Cool, good luck mate.

There is an awesome photography website I use all the time. The guy there does photography and photoshop tutorials.
But recently he did some tutorials on how to ensure your business succeeds and lessons he has learned. They are very good.

The website is Phlearn, Aaron Nace is the photographer.

Re: I started a business!

I became self employed last year in january, keep up to date invoices for everything, or taxes become a pain...

Also don't be afraid to do a bit of work for free at first, its a good way to meet people and expand your portfolio so that you can accept future paid work.. worked for me mini/smile

Good luck dude.
