Topic: imovie 11 question

Can anyone tell me how to set the specs on imovie 11 to 15 FPS?
Any info would be great, thanks.

Re: imovie 11 question

Actually, you can't get 15fps on iMovie, it's more for editing video. You could try a program such as iStopMotion or monkeyjam though.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: imovie 11 question

But you had FCE, right? That can do thirty, and if you make each photo last two frames, it's 15 fps, that's what I do

Re: imovie 11 question

Really you call yourself animator yet you don't know how to use anything?

Re: imovie 11 question

I'm sure there is a way to import images. Just set each image to 00:02 to a timeline that is set for 30 fps. That should do the trick.

You're really hating on Antonio mini/sad what's up with that? (between this and your comment on his other film)

He probably just got the program and didn't know how to use it! Probably before he was working with another program, and wanted help.
That's what this whole community is about, helping others improve...

Edit: also, what shutterbroke said is what I'm referring to, I'm not sure if iMovie has options like that, but it probably does.

Re: imovie 11 question

Hey Realm thanks for all your help. I appreciate it.
As for Outsider I try to ignore people until they have something fruitful to say and stop hating.
Thanks a bunch guy.

Well, well, look who's talking. There is no need to criticize like that on BiM.

Re: imovie 11 question

I'm in agreement with GHB there, you really shouldn't be so aggressive in your posts, Outsider.

Re: imovie 11 question

This is what I do. I'm assuming you use mac, right? Well, I have downloaded a stop motion frame grabber that let's you import pictures into the program.(unless you use a webcam for capture.) After you have imported the frames, you can easily change the framerate to what you want,(15 fps or higher) and then you can export the clip and import it into iMovie to edit it. Works amazing for me.

I use SAM Animation for this, but another program I have that is free and let's you import frames is FramebyFrame.

Re: imovie 11 question

Dang, I had written a giant post, then I switched tabs and when I came back the page reloaded and I lost it mini/sad
Anyways, basically what had written was that I just did a test where I put some images into iMovie, exported them and then brought the clip back in but sped it up 200%, it looked like 15 fps to me but I'm not sure...
I also said that while GHB's way works, those programs generally don't allow for high quality exports, so instead I prefer to go the QuickTime Pro 7 route, using the "Open Image Sequence" feature. For more info, google it, because I'm too lazy to rewrite everything I had said. mini/tongue  (and I have to go have dinner now)

I use SAM Animation, too. I also submitted it a while back ago to the resources section if you Mac users wanna take a look at that. mini/smile

Re: imovie 11 question

If you can get your hands on iMovie HD you should be able to import frames at 1/15th of a second, been using that for years. iMovie HD is an old version from around 2006. And you may be able to get it onto your computer for free if you have an older version but I'm not an expert on the matter.

Re: imovie 11 question

Nice tip, Danimation.
Here it is, it's free.

Re: imovie 11 question

Wait...I use iMovie too, and I've tried other programs to get faster FPS, but they all seem to need a webcam (I think). Is there a good (preferably free) program I can use without a webcam that will then increase my FPS?

That's funny you mention an older version of imovie. For some reason after I reformatted my mac it wont run ilife that has imovie 11, so ithe only version right my mac will run is imovie 08. Until I can get my hands on a higher version 10.6.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Re: imovie 11 question

Can you run 2 differant versions of iMovie together? Because I like using all the effects new to iMovie 11.
