Topic: Just bought Sony Vegas 9, Have Important questions! Assistance needed!

So I just bought Sony Vegas 9 now I'm desperate for advice!

I have executed several videos on just getting the lego walk cycle correct and i feel i have done it smoothly at 15 FPS but I will still continue practicing a bit more anyhow, but I like how it is at the moment heres a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU07ySsR … e=youtu.be to see my latest one were i practiced on getting the lego to type and turn corners, the corners was done fine but the typing was to fast, so i am a little confused on fixing that.

Sony Vegas Questions:

I have sony vegas 9, now and here are sony of my problems.

1.) I use monkey jam and once i completed the film and was exported into an AVI, It runs fast and well at 15 FPS, but then when I get the frames from the same movie and put them into sony vegas they dont run as smoothly I feel this is plainly because I don't have the right setting, so anyone who can assist for 15 FPS, for sony vegas 9 it would be very much appreciated.

2.) My second problem which is a big issue is that, once the frames are there how do i extend certain frames to be able to add my voices in for whatever time is needed? For example I voiced ''I have never heard of such beast'' now I wanted to put that in 3 individual frames each consisting of a small increment of hand movement, how would i do this if I needed to pause certain frames a bit longer without distracting and changes all the frames together?

3.) If 1 and 2 are able to be answered, once completed the film how do i export it as an AVI?

4.) If i want to also add effects, such as gun fires, smoke, and other fx how do add it the the frames, is it possible to put below a frame, or would i have to edit the individual frames?

Thanks guys in advance, if anyone can answer that would be a MASSIVE help, I would honestly appreciate it as I would like to know my money went to good use, and honestly if people can help me with these questions to me it is well spent.

Thanks guys

Generalned.

Would be a good idea to look up how to render stuff properly in Vegas on Google or YouTube.
1) - this is most likely due to your system specs. If the playback is stuttering, go to the top of the preview window, press the button called "preview" or something like that and turn the quality a bit down. Avi files can be a bit heavy to mess with.
2) - go to wherever you want to extend. Press the mouse on the place you want to extend. Press S. This makes a cut. Press S again at the end of the frame. Hold ctrl down, hold your mouse down on one of the ends of the clip you just cut and then you can shorten / extend the frame.
3) - File > Render > at bottom of render window, take .avi as your export format. A bit hard to explain so you might want to look it up.
4) - this might be a bit hard for thr inexperienced. My way is usually finding the gunshot on YouTube. Background must be a consistent colour. Chromakey the background out. Keyframe move the gunshot to the frames. Done.

Hope it helped a bit.
