The Dark Knight Rises

I.....I'm not even sure what to say. That was spectacular, ties in with the general Batman mythos and Batman Begins perfectly. If only the experience wasn't slightly dampened by the constantly talking teens at the back of the cinema. Anyway, absolutely fantastic movie, all of you go see it, no excuses.

Way of the Dragon (1972) directed by Bruce Lee, starring Bruce lee. Not his best (Although you can only compare it to his 4 other films), but still entertaining. It's Chuck Norris' debut role I think, so if you're not a Bruce Lee fan, you can watch it for Chuck Norris.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Just watched the whole Indiana Jones: Bonus Material . Never been a fan of watching bonus material before. But I really liked to see how they did everything and it was interesting to hear all interviews. So I will probably watch more bonus material from other movies now on.

Then I watched Woody Allen's Midnight In Paris. It was a good film, very cosy.

Quite interesting. Pretty good, I expected more out of it due to all the attention it got. Seemed boring at first, then a tad gruesome, then it started getting good. Camera man had some shaky hands. mini/lol
I still don't understand why people are obsessed over it.... 6.8/10

You'd have to read the books to understand.

The Dark Knight Rises
Brilliant film, and haters gonna hate, but it was better than The Dark Knight in my opinion. Both of them were awesome, but I think Rises was just a tad bit better. I do agree that the Joker was quite the better villian, but there were many things in the story that made it better than TDK, including

I liked the movie too, not as much as you, but it was good.

Altough I hated

the twist in the end with Miranda Tate, I mean Bane never really gets a cool endning there, he just get shot by Catwoman. Then I get the feeling that Bane is like The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, that you shall feel sorry about him. That was really bad.

Good movie, but the twist really sucked

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

A kind of agree.

They didn't have NEARLY enough depth of character on Talia Al Ghul.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I have to disagree with you there, Noobster.

Spoiler (click to read)

I thought the twist with Talia al Ghul was perfectly done, especially because the movie fooled the whole audience (including me) into thinking that Bane was Ra's al Ghul's child.

Though I did feel bad for Bane, but then I thought about the fact that he's trying to blow up the entire city. I thought once again that the villian should of had a better revelation, same with the Joker in TDK. I think that Bane should have had a better way to go out than just being shot by Catwoman (I didn't even know he was dead).

well, as far as I remember, there was sparks as if it didnt penetrate the chest armor he was wearing, and he grunted when he hit the wall, after he'd be shot,
and I liked the twist at the end, cause, through the whole movie ur hating bane, then at the end you really just c that he is the way he is because of love, and i think someone said that in the movie, love is a stronger motivator then hate.....

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it.
It was a good movie, but it was (by today's standards) short, at 1 hour 33 min, and the duration didn't allow for the characters to be developed properly.

Still, it was a pretty new concept, and I enjoyed it.

Jonsi's Go Live TOur DVD

While not exactly a film, it is certainly a masterpiece from both a visual and musical standpoint. I mean, I love Jonsi's music but the cinematography, lights, effects on this DVD were all impeccable. My favorite was the live rendition of Kolnidur, with the Secret of Kells-style animation along with the dramatic shots of the band. If you like Jonsi or Sigur Ros you should definitely watch this, and if you don't know what I am talking about you need to see it as well so you can save your soul. mini/bigsmile

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Well, I saw a few recently.

The Negotiator

Bizarrely, I watched this while in the Netherlands. Weird.

It was full of cliches, and it was a load of super-serious-yet-silly nonsense, but I loved it. It wasn't exactly a masterpiece or anything, but it was a good way to waste a couple of hours. Plus, I'm a huge fan of both Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey, as they're both brilliant actors.

So it was bad, but good, if that makes any sense. I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Nim's Island
It was 3 in the morning. I was bored, and couldn't fall asleep. My DS was out of charge. I was in a horse ranch, in the middle of nowhere, in Poland. And the movie was in Polish.

I watched the hour and a bit from the middle of it. I couldn't take it in the end. Just utter rubbish. Not even in a good way. Maybe I'd have felt a little differently if it had been in my first language (not that I speak Polish, because I don't), but I don't think so. It was just, pure and utter tripe.

The Dark Knight Rises
People have already said a lot about this, so I won't go on for long. I'll just say that, despite some minor issues I had with the story, this is now my all-time favourite movie. It gave the Dark Knight trilogy the ending it both needed and deserved.

And Bane was terrifying. I saw this in IMAX, and the sound was amazing.

Spoiler (click to read)

In the scene where he first fights Batman in the sewers, the way Banes voice echoed across the cinema was chilling. It was so uncomfortable, especially when combined with watching Batman have his butt (or rather his back) handed to him, and the lack of any score at all. It was...beautifully painful, if that makes any sense.

Oh, and the football stadium scene was the same. Not only did it properly set the tone for the rest of the movie, but the way Bane killed Pavel, the mayor, and broke Gotham into pieces in just a few minutes was wonderfully executed (pardon the pun).

And the soundtrack was brilliant. Spotify it. It's brilliant.

The X-Files

I'm a ma-hoo-sive fan of the TV series, so I was pumped for the movie. I was hoping it'd be better than the second movie (which was so bad, I don't even consider it part of the X-Files), and it was.
The aliens were great, the effects were great, the story was great, David Duchovny was as monotone yet engaging as always, and...

Wow. Just. Wow. I am absolutely speechless. It was fabulous. It's an instant classic. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it.
