Re: The CGI Thread

That turtle is sooooo cute!

I'm currently going through some Blender tutorials, and I got up to a bit about the Extrude tool. In the video, the guy can move it along any axis, whereas when I try to do it, it's limited to the x axis, which is really annoying. Does anyone know what I need to do? I'm pressing the E key...anything else? It doesn't say anything in the video.

Thanks in advance guys,

-Jam

EDIT: Don't worry - I worked out that it's the middle mouse key I need to press at the same time.

Re: The CGI Thread

You can also just right click and the freshly-extruded face(s) will snap back. Then you can press G and move it/them on any axis.

Re: The CGI Thread

Just a quick test render and a bit of tweaking in AE.

I still need to add stuff to the scene like rubbish on the floor, old newspapers, boxes, vines on the walls etc.

Re: The CGI Thread

@ Rsteenoven Now that is cool. I especially love the texture on the floor.
Though the light coming through the door and window makes it difficult to see anything, but I suppose that's intentional.

Re: The CGI Thread

Seeing Wingman's render a little while back, I got inspired to finish up my CGI mini-figure rig, and ended up re-doing a large portion of it. The modeling is done, and I'm working on rigging. Here's where I'm at:

Note: I am not good at posing minifigures. :{ This was just a really quick pose, though, mostly to test how easy to use the controls are. Right now, they're pretty easy to work with already.

More testing for the DWP. This was rendered in two passes: One Maya software pass with three point lights and DepthMap shadows, and a second Hardware 2.0 pass with Screen-space ambient occlusion enabled.
I combined the passes in Photoshop with an overlay blending mode, but I will use After effects for the final renders.

Just a quick test shot, not finished yet:

I'm making a live action/3d film, this character is jumping down from the window onto the box.

Re: The CGI Thread

Hang on, so it's a meld of live-action and CG? Sounds tres interresant.

You can't see well from here, but the spherical thing in the front (on the right) is the cockpit.

This thing would be a nightmare to texture. mini/tongue

Re: The CGI Thread

I was Working on Facial animations on my CGI figures and thought That instead of a 2-D image Textured on the Lego Head, Maybe I could make the mouth and Eyes actually part of the head and using shape keys to animate them.

I came up with this:
http://i45.tinypic.com/e9bxy1.jpg
Doing this lets me see The Mouth animations it in the Blender veiwport making it easier to animate.

Thoughts? mini/what

I'm just about ready to animate this guy!  mini/delirium

It doesn't have to be three-dimensional for you to be able to see it in the viewport. Just make a flat shape and use a shrinkwrap modifier or a parental deform to a circle.
