I have tried making a brick film in LDD once, but the thing is, you have to go onto view mode or something to take the picture, and then you have to go back to the build mode to move the figure, brick, etc. So you can try it, but it will take a lot longer then making a normal brick film.
Here's one made by MovingBricks a few months ago.
That topic also shows you how to move things in small increments. Another way to do that besides what is shown there is moving the arm on the round thing in the top left corner.

Exactly that video is my favourite LDD animation. But I don't recommend it, I think it's hard.
Using a combination of LDraw and Blender would have much better results, but it'll take more time to learn.
