While I like HD, I wish people would stop uploading their stuff in that format.  Honestly, I'd prefer to watch a high-quality version of the video, because just watching HD makes my computer huff and puff.

Append &fmt=18 to any youtube video url to view in high quality.

Re: YouTube

I know that, I just wish the videos would be formatted for high quality viewing as opposed to HD, while watching HD sometimes is good.  In fact, I watched Unrenewable in HD on our Media Center PC with a 40" screen and it was great, but for slower computers, like the one I'm using right now, high-quality stuff would be better.

I never knew...

Re: YouTube

Whenever I watch HD videos, it stops and loads every 5-10 seconds mini/sad I prefer High Quality.

Re: YouTube

Well, I checked through the whole list that 0ldscratch posted, and the only thing I have to worry about is my film War of the Worlds which has a Metallica song on it... I hope it doesnt get yanked mini/tongue

Re: YouTube

Hmm, well, at least two of my films have music by a band signed under WMG. Darn, and one of them just recently broke 100,000 views. mini/sad

I wonder if it would be worth it to just to take them down and replace them with a new set of original music before WMG gets to it.

Re: YouTube

Awesome. I've only heard of about 2% of the artists on that list, and I only listen to about a quarter of those, so I don't have much to worry about; but, I think I will start using more music from FreePlay Music, just in case.

No! Don't do it! Wait for them to take it down, then upload a new version because they might not delete you film!

Re: YouTube

I would like to wait it out and see what happens, but I'm concerned if YouTube's three strike penalty would be in effect if the WMG got a hold of my channel (I believe it's three removed videos and your channel gets suspended). If it doesn't, then I probably won't bother, but if it does, then I might have to worry for the safety of my YouTube channel.

Thinking on it, I can actually name four films of mine that have music in some way connected to WMG, so I'm starting to get a tad nervous.

Re: YouTube

It's more of a concern if you have the full track playing throughout your video because they use software to match the wave patterns. If you just drop a few bars in here and there, you'll be harder to track down.

I'm still surprised that the Dane Cook films are up, tbh. Maybe Radiohead are cool about that sort of thing.

Re: YouTube

I think I've had four or five videos removed, and I'm still okay.

My old YouTube is since long ago defunct - now even removed.
Here is my new one.

Re: YouTube

I've had one, and it's the aforementioned looped "What is Star Trek" gif with the Demolition Drive track from the Bleach OST. It was apparently "inappropriate". mini/confused

Re: YouTube

They now have this little button at the video that says "HQ" or "HD".
It looks better then that blue text.

In case anyone's interested, including music by pretty much any artist on this list will get your film yanked. I think the only reason my Ween videos have stayed up is because the tracks I used are from limited independent releases and not from their major albums.

Uhm... what about using parts of "The Dark Knight"-score? I haven't found Hans Zimmer on the list, and very many people seem to use this.
How are the chances of getting a video like this removed!?

Re: YouTube

Loads of people (including partners) use TDK score, so I think it's OK.

Re: YouTube

Forrestfire101 used the music from the trailer and he has ads on that video, so I guess it is OK to use it.

The Dark Knight is a Warner Bros. film, so you can probably assume that the soundtrack will likely be in some way connected to WMG, so a film using it is still vulnerable to getting pulled by the WMG.

Filip, can you link to the film where forrestfire has used the music and placed ads next to it? Because if he did, that would be a terrible, terrible decision on his part.

Re: YouTube

Here it is. It is one of the few videos where he has ads.

Hmm, how the hell'd he get away with that?
