When you think about it, there's tons of zombie movies and tv shows like Zombieland, Zombieland 2, The Walking Dead, The Crazies, Highschool of the Dead, Fido, The Evil Dead, and the list goes on. Not to mention vampire movies, though there are some good ones like Dracula, and bad ones like Twilight. Are these topics a little overused? And if so, how are people still attracted to them?
I think that those themes are a little overused, however it simply shows that people (us) are interested in that kind of stuff. For example I love zombie movies (even the RE movies with Mila Jovovich), I'm not a big fan of vampires though, the only film I enjoyed was 30 days of night, but the vampires in that movie reminded me more of the infected peeps in 28 days later.
My point is when there's demand there will always be supply and it's basically our own fault we make vampire/zombie films profitable

Most horror esq movie's series seem to be dragged out as far as possible, (I'm looking at you Jaws Revenge.) But what genre hasn't been over used?
And you should watch 'last man on earth' it's Vampire's that act like zombies. (That movie really is pretty good.)

I'm not sure why it has bad ratings, maybe I'd have to go back and watch it again, but I remember watching that when I was younger before I knew what a zombie was. I thought it was pretty good. Then again, I was an easily entertained kid. I guess it really depends, but there are some classic movies that were pretty good, but after that, people were like, "Zombies are cool? Let's get to work" But you are right, I suppose almost all genres are overused.
Twilight isn't a vampire movie.
