Man on Fire (2004)

The ending is very touching. The way Creasy sacrifices himself for the girl. Awesome movie, I almost cried and I don't cry 99.99% of the times.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

The moment when Kyon gives Yuki back the invitation to the reading club, and she begins to cry. This doesn't sound like much, but considering she only developed emotion and character development in the movie, this scene made me so friggin' sad.

Re: Great Emotional Scenes From Movies

I really don't want to come across as a grammar nazi or anything, but really, the title of the thread needs to be "Emotional scenes from movies". Even better would be something like "Great Emotional Scenes from Movies".

On topic. Right off the top of my head, I think of many parts in the LOTR movies. In particular, I love the little talk Sam and Frodo have in Osgiliath in The Two Towers.
I also greatly agree with Loic F-B, the ending of the The Dark Knight is amazing (as are several other parts of that movie).

The relatively recent film "UP (2009)" from Pixar. In particular this scene.

The scene left me with a tear to my eye. The words...

Oh yeah, so true. I have that movie and every time I watch that scene it just gets better.

Don't forget the ending of Toy Story 3 mini/wink

Re: Great Emotional Scenes From Movies

I have to say, a scene that I loved is in Blade Runner:

when Roy Batty starts counting while holding Pris' dead body, especially because they're androids, and supposedly, the bad guys too. The final monologue too.

Up
The first 8 minutes and the end. (and the previously mentioned scene too)

Singing in the Rain
Just hearing Good Morning makes me happy.

2001: A Space Odyssey

Strange how I cared more about Hal 9000 than the human characters. The scene where he dies almost makes me cry.

Batman & Robin :^(

The Ghost of Mrs. Day studios: Home of mediocre brickfilms.

Re: Great Emotional Scenes From Movies

I'll second Up, LotR, Inception, Dark Knight and especially Hunger Games. I've never yet properly cried due to a movie, but I got close there.

But probably the my favorite would be several scenes from Wall-E, particularly when they play Sunday Clothes, and It Only Takes a Moment. The love story in that film is wonderful, and just makes me feel bright and happy inside. :')

Also: The duel at the end of Return of the Jedi. It's epic.

Agreed. While it didn't cause me to become emotional, I believe it's one of the best scenes in the film.

It probably has to do with the fact that HAL is by far the most human character in the whole film. Listening to him beg for his life in that monotone computer voice is oddly affecting and haunting.

If you weren't emotional at that scene, you're dead inside.

Re: Great Emotional Scenes From Movies

This scene had me bawling my eyes out.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Great Emotional Scenes From Movies

@Mickey you are right, that movie made me very very sad (I cried a lot), but it was such a beautiful film!

Yeah, that along with the rest of that whole movie is amazing. Especially the ending scene on opening day when they play that Hoppipolla song that made me so goshdarn HAPPY

I cried at the very end, where the Mees imagine that they see their mother.
