Topic: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

Okay so for all of my animations I've been taking still shots with a digital cam and importing them into wlmm, which is quite hard and doesn't always turn out so good. So I plan to get a quickcam pro 9000, download monkeyjam, and purchase sony vegas movie studio platinum 11. My question is this, do I capture the pictures with monkeyjam and then import all of the pictures into sv and put it together there? I've never used a webcam for animating so I am a bit confused. Also is sony vegas movie studio good for editing etc, because I want better quality films (like full-screen youtube videos, instead of having the black bars) Sorry for all of the questions, but I really need to improve my equipment. Thanks mini/bigsmile

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

capture the images in monkeyjam, once your done go to file-->Export as AVI. Then find your file in Sony Vegas and edit it! mini/smile

Hope this helps!

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

You can do what EliteStormForce, or you can just import the pictures into Vegas and make it your desired fps. Also, sony vegas movie studio platinum 11 is an amazing editor.

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

Ok thanks for clearing that up, but can it do special effects and hd videos like what I was talking about?

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

Sony Vegas is fantastic for editing, and I use it myself. I recommend that instead of buying the 100 dollar - 150 dollar version off of SONY's site, you should buy it off of amazon for nearly half of the price: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Vegas-Studio … B0051M6IPI. That is what I did with mine, though I also recommend you choose normal shipping rather than free super savings shipping, because the waiting time was excruciating (For me... I'm not patient when it comes to waiting, unless it involves me doing something fun).

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

You won't get the high resolution you want with Monkeyjam.

Helium Frog is the only free animation program I know of that can do high-res.
If you're okay with paying, there's Stop Motion Pro (Action! HD version).  I use it, and I think it's definetly worth the money.

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

I don't like helium frog, it's to complicated. I just want fullscreen youtube videos, it doesn't have to be perfect quality.

I use MonkeyJam, and I love it.
As for video editing, don't get Vegas.
Drop the extra cash on Premiere Pro, and save yourself a giant heap of trouble.

What do you mean man?

Re: Major upgrade questions (Help!)

Well, I've never used SONY Vegas, but there seem to be two types of people who use it: Those who hate it with a passion, and those who like it for its simplicity, and because they're upgrading to it from Windows Movie Maker.

My thoughts are, if you are going to invest in a non-linear editor, get Premiere, as most schools will use that in their filmmaking courses, and because is more effecient in its methods of doing things.

I undrstand that Vegas can do visual effects as well, but like Premiere, it is an editor, not a compositor.
For this, you may want to get Adobe After Effects, which works beautifully with Premiere through DynamicLink, can create Visual effects the likes of witch Vegas can't even come close to.

What do you find complicated about it, may I ask?

Also, fullscreen resolutions tend to have low quality.
Why don't you want high quality?
