I use Audacity for my audio and have seen and tryed using the echo effect in it but it doesn't come out that good. What I want is to add an echo effect to my audio clips so it sound like a character is in a cave. Does any one know the best way to do this or for any echo effect for that matter? Thanks 
Record talking into a bucket or some other container. Experiment.
I'm guessing what you don't like about the echo effect is that is sounds a bit robotic.
(It kinda makes someone sound like C-3PO.)

I was kinda disappointed by their Echo, or it's just I have the settings incorrect. 
But my video editing software can a pretty delightful effect. If you want, I could take your cave audio track, affect it, then send it back to you all echo-y.
The technical term for that effect is Reverberation - so look in your softwares effects for something called Reverb.
play around with the settings and your effect shall appear.
