Well...in December 2009, I got the idea to do short Ed, Edd, and Eddy movies with MS Paint (I deleted them because they were terrible), but in July 2010, I finally started doing Lego animations with a cruddy camera up until September 2011 (I deleted them because they were terrible). Now, I use a Logitech Webcam [over] 9000.
2007: JP1 begins to brickfilm
2008: We all decide to brickfilm together
2009: Our first actual brickfilm is created in April, followed by two others at the end of the year
2010: We joined BricksInMotion; our infamous The Missing Piece film is released
2011: We slowly begin our progression from "Terrible brickfilmer" into "Average brickfilmer"
2012: ???
I think I made my first Brickfilm in 2010 though I didn't make another one until earlier 2011. I did make some stop motion animations using Playmobil in 2008.
My first animation was 2002 or 2003 (done on a hi8 camcorder hitting rec/stop really quickly), so that's nearly 10 years (though only ones from 2006 onwards are online)
Since the summer of 2008 so almost 4 years
I've been animating for about 8 years, but I only really started getting serious in about 2008. Before then I was without a tripod and using a crappy camera.

3 years and 2 months. ![]()
Let's see... uh... In 2009, I think. I made a few deleted tests, an Indiana Jones practice film, the Bricks pilot (which inspired the series), and a few short tests that year (all at about 5 fps). In 2010, I made a Recyling PSA for school (I think it was 6.5 fps), some 12 fps tests, and started Bricks: Episode 1. In 2011, I continued and finished the animation for Bricks (with a few tests inbetween) and did a bunch on 15 fps tests (also a incompleted film I tried to make out of an Animation Challenge and an incompleted THAC 9 entry). This year... I don't think I've animated yet this year.
So that's three years.
(I told you what I did during that time because you'd probably be thinking, "Three years and he hasn't released a thing yet?! What has he been doing this whole time?!".)

Since May 2010, so not even two years, it seems longer than that. Until then I didn't even know what a brickfilm was.
I think I'm doing rather well considering my lack of experience, now that I think about it. I suppose that's what practice does for you. ![]()
In 2006 I found out about brickfilming on youtube. 2007 I made a first test with my brother and father, but technically it was my father who animated it (we were just watching). In 2008 my brother and I made our first brickfilm, though I had to finish it by myself (and the quality, in fact, decreases from the first half to the second), and then I did all the animation/story/editing by myself. So, 4 years.
since 2007.
I didn't put any films on youtube until 2008.
My first animations were with Playmobil and clay.
I put my first animations on my dads youtube account. After 2009 I stopped animating. But then started back up in late
2010 and then made my own youtube account which is the one I'm using now!
So I've been animating for five years.
Well, I started animating back in 2009 with some very terrible brickfilm that wasn't even a brickfilm, but live action. I uploaded the video to my mom's YouTube. It got so many dislikes that I eventually removed it. It wasn't until 2011 that I began to animate again.
That stinks Troodon. xD
I'll state again.
I've been animating for a little over 2 years, I started a few months before joining BiM. Upon joining my wings spread and I started making good animations. (You can watch my worst on my channel it's still there xD). At first I was doing live-action/having a mediocre youtube channel, you know the usual stuff. Once I saw like 50 brickfilms and watched all the goodies I suddenly stumbled upon BiM. One of the best days, except it wasn't special... ![]()
I swear we've had a thread like this at least twice before.
However, I've been animating for around 10 years now, I think.
