Topic: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

Hi, i've been looking around and hear that the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 is good for stop motion, i know this isn't their latest so i've also been looking at Logitech C910 and C920.
They seem pretty good but are they good for stop motion, or should i just stick to dslrs?
i've heard that these web cams don't have manual focus??

are there any webcams that aren't too expensive, offer manual focus and zoom that doesnt ruin quality?

thanks!:o

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

I personally use the 9000Pro, and it seems to be pretty good as far as webcams go.
However, I've been using a Canon T3i lately, and the Quickcam's quality doesn't even come close.

Here is the cheapest DsLR I have ever seen on any online store, but if you're on a tight budget, go with the 9000Pro

I completely disagree. Webcams are very good for brickfilming, especially if you do not have a lot of money. I guess you think that because of your light-flicker problem. Light flicker is not too bad, and it can be stopped.

The new C920 is apparently very good, back on the subject.

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

It's all personal preference. As for the C920 and the C910, I'd get the C910. The C920 has no manual settings which is a must have for brickfilming.

Really? I thought it had the same manual settings as the Quickcam Pro 9000 and the C910.

Webcam. DSLRs are just expensive, but webcams provide high quality for a low price.
I use a Microsoft Lifecam Studio, and it works great.

From what I know, it has none. At least, it doesn't have the mandatory ones.

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

I am using QuickCam Pro 9000 and I gotta say it's perfect for stop-motion. Sure if you have money go for DSLR but choose very carefully. Of course the quality of DSLR's is so much better but to be honest if you got skills and have a basic understanding of cinematography it doesn't really have a big difference it will still be a decent brickfilm doesn't matter which one you use.

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

DSLR's are fantastic, but they also cost. Alot. Webcams are much less expensive, and are great for brickfilming. The Pro 9000, C910, and C920 give great quality, and manual settings, for under 100 dollars.

yeah its seems a lot of people use Pro 9000 it looks good, does that have zoom too?

Don't stare yourself blind on number of pixels: a full HD film is 1920 * 1080 = 2073600 pixels which is slightly more then 2 Megapixels. It's the quality of the image that counts...

Yup, about everything can be set to manual.
Anyway, the quality is not perfect, so I am thinking about selling my webcam and get a Logitech 9000 instead.

I wouldn't upgrade to the 9000 as it is the older model. I would recommend the C910 or C920.

Don't get a C920. If you are considering a 9000, get the C910. Just clarifying. mini/smile

EDIT: This wasn't really directed towards you, but Briks. mini/wink

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

I have tried the C910 before, and I couldn't get it to stand still. By the way, is the software updated to manual settings?

Re: WEBCAMS OR DSLR?

That moving around would be a cradle problem, not a camera problem. And yes, the software has been updated for some time now.
