Is that crappy design PERMANENT? ![]()
Sadly, it is.
So... YouTube made a beta of Cosmic Panda, everybody hated it, and then it became permanent?
Yes.
I was thinking it's odd that YouTube is working against the users, consistently making it harder for community to flourish and for new YouTubers to get off the ground, then I realised this.
Remember we're not YouTube's customers, what we think of the layout ultimately makes no difference to them as long as we don't quit the site (and, realistically, no one is going to quit YouTube because of the new channel layout).
YouTube's customers are the advertisers, and that's who they want to appeal to. So they've done that by creating a cleaner, simpler, sleeker and more professional-looking layout. Advertisers like this, they feel safer knowing exactly (or at having a better idea of) what their brand will be displayed next to.
Is that crappy design PERMANENT?
Technically no because eventually a new layout will come, the question is however when is that going to happen? 3 years later? Maybe more? It's not the first time the layout has been changed and at first the layout that has been replaced a few days ago was also disliked by many people. I remember there were videos saying that the layout sucks even though this one that has been replaced IMO was the best ever.
P.S. I've also read that new customization features will be added as the time goes (for this Panda Bulls*** layout). So hopefully it's going to get at least a little better than it is right now.

No, the real question is: will the new design be WORSE? ![]()
Ha ha thanks to randomly acting youtube anything is possible
I really don't think it could get any worse. Though wait, what about a layout which shows one huge thumbnail of your newest video? There's no need to see subscriber amount, friends, comments and other crap. Let's just have a blank page with one huge thumbnail ![]()
I fully expect that when the new layout comes out in a couple years, people will complain to no end about it and will insist that the (current, but in my scenario) old layout is sooooo much better.
Same thing happens with Facebook anytime they change anything. People hate change, even if it is for the best.
I just had a video reach 1,000 views
It's a first! Was anyone else excited when they had this happen?
I was excited when Batarang got 1000 hits
I was happy when one of my videos was about to get 100 views but then my sister played a prank on me by closing my account
. In her defence she thought I could get my account back ![]()

Yeah, and the main reason users object is because they're used to the previous layout. Everyone will get used to the new one eventually.

LOL! This is too good!
Those subtitles are the most epic fails I have ever seen! I loled so hard!
I also watched a few of AnnoyingNoisesProductions videos with those captions.
In Pirates Rule!, "Quite right" was transcribed as "flight bags".
Excuse my abbrevaitioning, but LOL!
Does anyone know why the captions are only available on some videos?

Actually some people indeed are quitting youtube and closing their accounts (most of them are going to sites like zippcast) and that's happening only because of the new layout. I don't think any of the partners will do that though. What we think about the layout however should be important to youtube since the whole website is one huge community. Youtube itself without the people uploading videos would be a complete zero.

Congrats! Yup, I was very excited when my first video hit 1,000 views. Kind of like a first milestone.
